Personal Bio/PreCareer Summary

Egor Demin was born in Moscow, Russia and attended the Moscow Basketball Academy (Trinta School) until 2021 - impressing scouts and earning offers. In September of 2021, Demin inked a six-year contract with Real Madrid. He primarily played for the junior A team and Real Madrid B. With the latter in 2023-24, he averaged 15.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.1 steals with 42/19/73 shooting splits. Following that campaign, he moved to the United States to play college basketball for BYU as a five-star recruit. In his one-and-done season, he earned Big 12 All-Freshman Team and All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors, averaging 10.6 points on 41/27/70 shooting, 5.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 27.5 minutes. Demin is a 6-foot-9 point-forward with some of the best passing in the draft. He has the vision, size and creativity to make almost every type of pass with accuracy and seems to prefer setting up his teammates rather than scoring. While Demin isn't a great jumpshooter, he is crafty around the basket and in the mid-range area with fakes and a soft touch. Defensively, he's at his best anticipating the offense, jumping into passing lanes and using active hands to generate steals and blocks. Demin projects as a floor general at the NBA level - someone who can organize the offense and set up his teammates. How far he can go beyond that will depend on his shooting development. His size will always be an advantage, however, and other players have made it work despite taking minimal 3-point attempts. Comparisons can be drawn to a player like Josh Giddey and Anthony Black.

June 25, 2025
Demin was selected by the Nets with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
ANALYSIS
Demin is a one-of-a-kind prospect, as the BYU standout is a 6-foot-10 floor general who's extremely comfortable running the offense and having the ball in his hands. The Moscow native needs to develop his jumper to reach his full potential, but since the Nets are in the midst of a rebuilding process, Demin should have plenty of chances to get used to the pace of the NBA game for a team that's not expected to be a playoff contender for at least a few years. Demin averaged 10.6 points, 5.5 assists, 3.9 boards and 1.2 steals over 33 games in the 2024-25 college season.

Draws hype from head coach
GBrooklyn Nets
July 2, 2025
Brooklyn head coach Jordi Fernandez was hyped about his team's selection of Demin with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Erik Slater of Clutchpoints.com reports.
ANALYSIS
"His positional size and his playmaking. Obviously, it's very important that we help each other and we give each other the best shot possible, and we believe that he can do it playing pick and roll or simply making the right play," Fernandez said. "That's who he is, and if you watch him play and you get to know him, you can see that right away. His ability to shoot the ball also attracted us. He's gonna shoot the ball very well in this league." Demin was one of five first-round picks the Nets picked up as they fully embrace the youth movement. Based on the current depth chart, it's looking likely that Demin could step into a significant role right out of the gate.
