2025 Fantasy Outlook
Sherwood struggled to find his footing in the NHL across his first six years in the league, but he found a home, at least temporarily, in Vancouver by signing a two-year, $3 million contract with the team in the 2024 free-agency class. Besides Quinn Hughes, Sherwood was arguably Vancouver’s most impactful player last season -- he set an NHL record for the most hits (462) in a season and broke out offensively with 19 goals and 40 points over 78 games, all career highs. The 30-year-old also had personal bests in shots on goal (141) and shooting percentage (13.5) while earning 14:53 of ice time per game, so he has a strong foundation to build on heading into 2025-26. With a new bench boss in Adam Foote and the fact that it’s the final year of his contract, the hard-hitting winger has plenty of reasons to continue proving his worth. Read Past Outlooks
Another strong effort Monday
Sherwood recorded two assists, one shot on net, four PIM, three hits and a plus-1 rating in Monday's 8-5 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
The 30-year-old winger continues to have a breakout campaign on offense without taking anything away from his physical play. Sherwood has gotten onto the scoresheet in five of the last six games, and through 21 games on the season, he's delivered 12 goals, 15 points, an NHL-high 93 hits, 39 shots on net, 16 PIM and a minus-1 rating.

Sherwood logged a career-high 68 regular-season games with Nashville in 2023-24, which resulted in him collecting 10 goals and 27 points. That's not bad production for a player averaging 12:10 of ice time, but his real value is tied to his physical play. The 29-year-old dished out 234 hits last year, and he'll likely end up with a similar total if his new team, the Canucks, deploy him regularly. While nothing is guaranteed, the two-year, $3 million contract Vancouver signed him to suggests that they're looking for him to be a mainstay on at least the fourth line. Just keep in mind that for all his hits, Sherwood isn't a major source of PIM, collecting a moderate 41 last season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Drawing trade interest
Sherwood is drawing plenty of interest from around the NHL, including the Wild, Canadiens and Stars, according to Pierre LeBrun of TSN on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Sherwood may be the biggest chip the Canucks have to trade if the team can build a bidding war. He's on track to rack up 300-plus hits this season, has chipped in 12 goals in 27 games and will cost teams just $1.5 million against the cap this year. That level of production and physicality doesn't come cheap on the trade market but is something every playoff-bound team will be looking for.
