Tournament Preview

A stacked field will be competing this week in Scotland for the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open. This week, many of the world's top golfers will be teeing it up in Scotland for another increased purse and a final tune-up for the Open Championship. Dundonald will be hosting for the first time, so there's no course history to pull from, but it's a coastal links style course with wind being the primary defense. Links experience, along with solid iron play and putting should lead to victory. The course is not particularly long, either.

DRAFTKINGS PICKS

Rickie Fowler - $11,400 (8/1)

Fowler is expensive, and only Rory is priced higher. That said, I find it very difficult not to jump on board. He plays well on links and won this tournament in 2015. He is ranked fourth in SG: Putting and is 25th in greens in regulation on the PGA Tour. He is also ranked first in sand saves, should he find himself in one of the many deep bunkers. The 10th-ranked player in the world handles wind well, too.

Matt Kuchar - $9,400 (25/1)

Kuchar is another player I like in the $9,000-plus range. He has had some good results on links courses, finishing T2 in 2015 at this tournament. Matt is hitting 67.5 percent of greens in regulation but his putting has been a bit spotty. His last four finishes have been T9, T12, T4 and T16. I believe the hot streak will continue.

Richie Ramsay - $8,000 (66/1)

Richie is coming in hot off his T2 at the Irish Open. He is ranked 16th in greens in regulation and gives himself great opportunities with his driving accuracy. Ramsay is a local that knows this style of golf well, and he also finished T6 in 2016 at this tournament. Growing up around links courses in Aberdeen should prove valuable this week. As such, he is my favorite middle-tier player.

David Drysdale - $6,800 (125/1)

Drysdale is another local I like this week. He is clearly a long shot given his price and odds, but enters this week with confidence following a T4 at the Irish Open and T16 at Open de France. The 42-year-old is ranked 47th in GIR, has also been accurate off the tee this season and is averaging 29.8 putts per round. He has not missed a cut the last four years at this tournament, finishing as high as T13 last year. Drysdale is my value pick this week.
