2026 Fantasy Outlook
Rose turned back the clock in 2025 and had a very strong season highlighted by a few noteworthy performances. The biggest was his runner-up at The Masters in which he shot a 66 in the final round to force a playoff with Rory McIlroy. Unfortunately, Rose would suffer a playoff loss at Augusta for the second time in his career (2017). He cooled off over the summer before getting back on track towards the end of the season with a victory at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in a playoff over J.J. Spaun. That was his 12th career victory on the PGA Tour. While those big showings helped him run up his earnings total for the season to nearly $9 million, he did rank outside the top 90 in SG: Total. That's probably a little closer to his ability at age 45, and his earnings total in 2026 is very likely to fall around PGA Tour average. That said, he still has the experience to contend at the biggest events if everything is working. Read Past Outlooks
Sets tournament scoring record
Rose put on a clinic to win the Farmers Insurance Open by seven shots after shooting a two-under 70 in the final round.
ANALYSIS
Rose had total control of this tournament from wire-to-wire. After opening with a 10-under-par 62 on the easier North Course and then a seven-under 65 on the tough South Course, Rose pretty much put this thing to bed. Nobody all weekend got closer than four or five shots and Rose rode off to the sunset in style by setting the 72-hole scoring record at the event by one stroke at 23-under-par (265). The iron play was vintage from the 45-year-old, as he ranked second in SG: Approach and first in GIR's. Age doesn't seem to be any cause for concern with Rose right now. He nearly won The Masters last year before scoring a win in the FedExCup Playoffs. Now his 13th PGA Tour victory early in the season has to have him fired up about 2026. He will not be in the field for the WM Phoenix Open, but should return from the two Signature Events in California.

Rose peaked at No. 1 in the OWGR in 2018 and he followed that season with a strong showing in 2019, but after that it was a rough few years. He found his form again in 2023 and he managed to play well enough in 2024 to remain a top-50 type player, but at the age of 44, you have to wonder how long he's got. His dip in 2020 could be attributed to the chaos surrounding COVID, but struggles in the years that followed are a bit of a mystery. Though he appears to have found his old form, the battle against Father Time will likely win out sooner than later. As such, his ceiling is more limited than it was just a few years ago, which makes for a tough sell as a salary cap candidate.
