Tournament Preview
This week the European Tour heads to Vilamoura, Portugal, and Dom Pedro Victoria Golf Course for the Portugal Masters. The risk/reward course is undulating with wide fairways. It has water hazards and bunkers throughout, but it is one of the easier courses on tour. Last year's winning score was 22-under par by Tom Lewis. A concise game plan and solid ball striking is the key to managing this Arnold Palmer design course. Course history will be considered along with recent and season-long form.

DraftKings Picks
Sam Horsfield - $9,300 (28/1)
This is a week that I prefer to skip the top price tier and make a balanced lineup. Horsfield has been on fire for months. His last missed cut was at the Scottish Open in July. Last week in France he finished T14 for the second time this season. Horsfield missed the cut last year at Dom Pedro Victoria, and was T59 in 2017, but he is a different golfer this year. He ranks third on tour in birdies made per round and all parts of his game are clicking — this should be a good week. Matt Wallace would be my pick, if I had to choose from the top tier.
Joakim Lagergren - $8,900 (33/1)
It has been a good second half of the season for Lagergren. He has made six cuts in his last seven starts. Three of those were top 10 or better. His results at Portugal Masters have been mixed. He missed the cut last year, but finished T17 in 2016. Lagergren is ranked 32nd in SG: approach and 86th in driving distance.
Guido Migliozzi - $7,900 (66/1)
Migliozzi is in a prime bounce-back spot after missing the cut in France. His game is more power than accuracy off the tee. Dom Pedro Victoria should be ideal for Migliozzi, and he has already won twice this year. This will be the first Portugal Masters for the young Italian, which isn't concerning. He is ninth in SG: approach, 31st in birdies and 26th in driving distance.
Tapio Pulkkanen - $7,200 (80/1)
Pulkkanen has made the cut in his last four events. His highest finish this season was solo eighth at Trophee Hassan, another course where length off the tee is a distinct advantage. He finished T63 last year at Portugal Masters after missing three cuts in a row. Pulkkanen is ranked seveth on tour in driving distance, averaging more than 311 yards. He is 32nd on tour in birdies made.
