Tournament Preview

The European Tour travels to Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Switzerland this week for the European Masters.  The mountain course is tree-lined and very undulating, with small greens that have run-offs in spots. Water hazards are present on the back nine.  Accuracy once again will be at a premium, with irons and off the tee. Golfers will need to calculate an additional 10 percent in distance this week due to the altitude.  This is a week when course history seems to matter more. Many of the same names have made it up the leaderboards over the years.

Key Stats to Winning at Crans-sur-Sierre

Driving Accuracy
Greens In Regulation
Scrambling
SG: Putting

Past Champions

2018 - Matthew Fitzpatrick
2017 - Matthew Fitzpatrick
2016 - Alex Noren
2015 - Danny Willett
2014 - David Lipsky

DraftKings Picks

Matthew Fitzpatrick - $11,400 (8/1)

Fitzpatrick was my pick at the top last week and he finished solo second for the third time this season.  No chance I am jumping ship at this point. He has won the European Masters the last two years.  A three-peat is a tough ask, but his recent form and coarse history are hard to ignore. He will be chalk, and that's fine by me.  Click him in and differentiate elsewhere.

Gavin Kyle Green - $8,300 (80/1)

Green returns to Switzerland following a T16 last week at Scandinavian Masters.  He finished T12 at Crans-sur-Sierre last year and posted a 63 in the third round.  Green's game sets up nicely again for this course; he is ranked 30th on tour in driving accuracy and 6th in greens in regulation.  His putter has been hot as well, coming in 27th in SG: putting.

Fabrizio Zanotti - $7,400 (110/1)

Zanotti last competed at the Scottish Open, so there may be some rust to shake off.  He has performed well the last three years at European Masters. He was T16 last year, T3 in 2017 and T24 in 2016.  Zanotti hits every stat I am looking for this week, he is 48th in driving accuracy, 17th in greens in regulation and 68th in scrambling.  He is a cut maker, making 13 of 15 cuts.

Scott Hend - $6,700 (250/1)

I believe there are a few good options at the bottom tier this week if you want to load up on the top choices.  Soren Kjeldsen, Renato Paratore and Sam Horsfield all seem like good options, my favorite is Hend. He just seems to show up at Crans-sur-Sierre and is ready to go, regardless of current form.  He arrives in Switzerland following four missed cuts, yet he has shown he can turn it on here time and again. Hend did get a victory earlier this year at Maybank Championship. His current form will keep ownership to a minimum.
