2024 Fantasy Outlook
Rattler was the third selection of the Saints in the 2024 NFL Draft, and he's likely in the cards for the team's future plans at quarterback. However, the fifth-round pick will immediately contend for the backup role behind starting signal-caller Derek Carr. With Jameis Winston gone to Cleveland, Rattler will contend with journeyman Nathan Peterman and 2021 fourth-round pick Jake Haener, the latter of whom has yet to make his NFL debut. Rattler started his collegiate career with high expectations at Oklahoma before losing his job to Caleb Williams in 2021, and he finished with a 19:8 TD:INT at South Carolina in 2023. Officially starting for Carr
Rattler will start Monday at Green Bay with Derek Carr (left hand) ruled out for the contest, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
ANALYSIS
Interim coach Darren Rizzi implied as much Thursday but still left the door open for Carr to prove his health as the week went on. However, Carr hasn't made enough progress in his recovery, allowing Rattler his fourth career start. In five appearances overall in his rookie campaign, Rattler has completed 69 of 120 passes (57.5 percent) for 706 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, recorded nine carries for 61 yards and committed three fumbles (two lost). Jake Haener will serve as Rattler's backup Monday.

Reclaims role from Haener
Rattler entered in relief of an ineffective Jake Haener in Sunday's 20-19 loss to the Commanders.
ANALYSIS
Rattler nearly led New Orleans to a comeback win after Jake Haener failed to lead the offense to any first-half points, but a two-point conversion attempt on the game's final play fell incomplete. Given the disparity in effectiveness between the two young quarterbacks, Rattler will likely get the starting nod in Week 16 against the Packers if Derek Carr remains sidelined by a concussion and fractured left hand.
