2024 Fantasy Outlook
Metchie missed the 2022 season while dealing with health issues. Upon his return in 2023, the receiver was a minor part of the Texans offense. On the season, he averaged one catch for 9.9 yards while not scoring a touchdown. It seemed as if Metchie had an opportunity to seize a larger role. During the season, Houston had to play without Tank Dell and Noah Brown for extended periods while Nico Collins and Robert Woods also missed time. However, Metchie played fewer than 20 snaps in 10 games. After the Texans acquired Stefon Diggs, Metchie will battle for a depth role. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Two targets in loss
Metchie failed to catch either of his two targets in Thursday's 21-13 loss to the Jets in Week 9.
ANALYSIS
With the team's top wideouts sidelined, Metchie was in line to take on a greater role, but it didn't work out that way. Houston quarterback C.J. Stroud spent much of the night running away from or getting hit by Jets defenders, which made a mess of the passing attack. Metchie, who played a season-high 50 snaps, and fellow wideout Xavier Hutchinson (59 snaps, three targets, no catches) were non-factors in the loss.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
Metchie, a second-round pick out of Alabama in 2022, never got on the field after being diagnosed with leukemia last summer. The 22-year-old overcame the illness and participated in a voluntary late-April camp in preparation for normal offseason activities and training camp. With Brandin Cooks traded and Nico Collins still needing to prove himself, there's an opportunity for Metchie and the team's other young wideouts to see ample playing time. Metchie was expected to be a significant part of the offense last season, but there are no guarantees for 2023, particularly with a new offensive brain trust in place.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Multiple teams interested
Metchie has been the subject of trade inquiries from multiple teams, but it's not clear if the Texans are looking to move him, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 2022 second-round pick sat out his entire rookie season while fighting leukemia, then saw a minimal role in 2023 once he was cleared to return to the field. Metchie's standing in the Texans' receiver room dropped further when the team traded for Stefon Diggs in April, so a fresh start could only help him. It's not clear which other teams have reached out to Houston about a possible trade.
