2024 Fantasy Outlook
A sixth-round pick in 2021, Evans has seen only 38 snaps on offense over the last two seasons as his lack of burst or vision prevented him from claiming a spot behind workhorse Joe Mixon. That won't be a problem in 2024; Mixon is now in Houston, and Cincinnati's backfield will be headed up by Zack Moss and second-year back Chase Brown. That could open the door for Evans to claim a passing-down role, but the fact that he's been unable to do so yet isn't a mark in his favor. Read Past Outlooks
Moves to IR
Evans (leg) was placed on injured reserve Monday.
ANALYSIS
The move was a formality for Evans after it was already reported he would miss the 2024 campaign due to suffering a torn patellar tendon during a joint practice with the Bears on Thursday. The Michigan product was competing for a spot on Cincinnati's running back depth chart behind Zack Moss and Chase Brown before suffering the injury.

2022
2021
The idea of Chris Evans as a pass-catching third-down back in the NFL has always been stronger than his actual performance, a game-winning touchdown in the Bengals' regular season game against the Chiefs notwithstanding. Evans was frequently a healthy scratch and rarely saw the field on offense in 2022, falling behind Joe Mixon, Samaje Perine and Trayveon Williams on the depth chart. Perine is off to Denver, but the Bengals drafted Chase Brown, who will presumably slot ahead of Evans this season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Leader for third-down role
Evans made a strong case to earn the third-down role with his preseason performance against the Packers on Friday, Paul Denher Jr. of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans is locked in a battle with rookie Chase Brown and fellow veteran Trayveon Williams to serve as the change-of-pace back to Joe Mixon. With Williams sidelined by an ankle injury, Evans impressed with his pass-blocking skills, while Brown missed an assignment that led directly to a sack. Denher made clear the battle for the role is far from over, however.
