Sunday Update Complete

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the fantasy football rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Should I start Patrick Mahomes or Bryce Young?"

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Each week after Week 1, the first set of rankings will be posted late on Tuesday night. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning.

When setting your lineups, make sure to refer to the NFL inactives to ensure all of your players are set to receive snaps.

I welcome debate on the rankings in

Quarterbacks

1.Lamar Jackson BAL vs. CLE
2.Josh Allen BUF at NYJ
3.*Jalen Hurts PHI at KC
Note: ***Hurts won't have Dallas Goedert (knee) on Sunday.***
4.*Justin Fields NYJ vs. BUF
Note: The Jets' offense looked really good with Fields at the helm. A fumbled kickoff return and a brutal hit by Jalen Ramsey on Garrett Wilson on the Jets' last offensive play tarnished a great overall offensive performance.
5.*Joe Burrow CIN vs. JAX
Note: Burrow had another Week 1 stinker - shame on me for expecting otherwise after he saw significant action in the preseason.
6.*Jayden Daniels WAS at GB
Note: Daniels popped up on the injury report with a right wrist issue, but coach Dan Quinn said that he has 'zero concerns' about it. The Commanders play Thursday at Green Bay.
7.Patrick Mahomes KC vs. PHI
8.Justin Herbert LAC at LV
9.Kyler Murray ARZ vs. CAR
10.Baker Mayfield TB at HOU
11.*Jordan Love GB vs. WAS
Note: Love's output looks pretty modest (16-of-22 for 188 yards and two touchdowns), but nearly all of that came in the first half and the Packers didn't ask much of him in the second half while protecting a lead.
12.Trevor Lawrence JAC at CIN
13.Dak Prescott DAL vs. NYG
14.*Jared Goff DET vs. CHI
Note: Goff averaged just 5.8 yards per attempt, was sacked four times and threw an interception in the loss to the Packers. I'm not yet sure what's the bigger factor - the loss of coordinator Ben Johnson, or the reshuffle of the Lions' interior offensive line.
15.*Bo Nix DEN at IND
Note: Nix averaged just 4.4 yards per attempt and threw two bad interceptions while the Broncos escaped with a win against the Titans.
16.Drake Maye NE at MIA
17.*Caleb Williams CHI at DET
Note: Williams was 21-of-35 for 210 yards and a touchdown, but keep in mind he hit on his first 10 passes. The collapse wasn't all on Williams, but he played a big role.
18.*Geno Smith LV vs. LAC
Note: Smith came out slinging in Week 1, throwing for 362 yards and a touchdown in the road win in his Raiders debut.
19.*Michael Penix ATL at MIN
Note: Penix draws Minnesota on the road next and might be without Drake London (shoulder).
20.*Aaron Rodgers PIT vs. SEA
Note: Rodgers mentioned that he was hampered by back tightness against the Jets, but he is not currently on the injury report.
21.*J.J. McCarthy MIN vs. ATL
Note: It looked ugly early on for McCarthy, but a huge fourth quarter rallied both the Vikings and made for a good fantasy day. He still managed just 20 attempts on the night.
22.*Daniel Jones IND vs. DEN
Note: The Colts scored on every offensive possession, and Jones played competently, completing one touchdown pass while running for two more. It gets a lot harder this week against the Broncos.
23.*Bryce Young CAR at ARI
Note: Young was very shaky in the loss to the Jaguars, committing three turnovers, with a pick-six getting overturned due to a penalty away from the play.
24.Matthew Stafford LA at TEN
25.C.J. Stroud HOU vs. TB
26.*Tua Tagovailoa MIA vs. NE
Note: Tagovailoa and the Dolphins looked hideous against the Colts. Tua had three turnovers, and the team had no spark whatsoever. The Dolphins will be without RT Austin Jackson and RG James Daniels.
27.*Sam Darnold SEA at PIT
Note: Darnold was just mediocre in the first game of his Seahawk tenure, throwing for 150 yards and a touchdown while losing a critical fumble at the end of the game.
28.*Mac Jones SF at NO
Note: Jones is next in line if Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) can't play. If I know for certain that Jones is starting, I'd probably put him in the 25-28 range. Purdy is listed as doubtful and could be out 2-to-5 weeks. ***Purdy is out, so Jones will get the start. But he'll get that start without George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk, plus both Jauan Jennings (shoulder) and LT Trent Williams (knee) are questionable.***
29.*Russell Wilson NYG at DAL
Note: Wilson had to be confirmed as the starter by coach Brian Daboll for Week 2 after the desultory performance in Week 1. ***Wilson will still be without LT Andrew Thomas, who is doubtful due to his foot injury.***
30.*Joe Flacco CLE at BAL
Note: Flacco dinked-and-dunked his way to 290 passing yards in the loss to the Bengals. He threw two interceptions, both of which went off the hands of Cleveland receivers first, though neither ball was particularly well thrown.
31.*Cam Ward TEN vs. LAR
Note: Ward predictably struggled on the road against one of the best defenses in the league, getting sacked six times while throwing for only 112 yards. It doesn't get all that much easier this week at home against the Rams.
32.Spencer Rattler NO vs. SF
33.*Brock Purdy SF at NO
Note: Purdy (toe/shoulder) will be given the entire week before the Niners decide whether he can play this week against the Saints. Purdy could be out 2-to-5 weeks and is listed as doubtful due to a turf toe injury. ***Officially out for Sunday's game against the Saints.***

Running Backs

1.Derrick Henry BAL vs. CLE
2.Saquon Barkley PHI at KC
3.*Bijan Robinson ATL at MIN
Note: Robinson got there via the passing game, but it's a little disturbing that there were no explosive runs against the Bucs.
4.Josh Jacobs GB vs. WAS
5.*Christian McCaffrey SF at NO
Note: ***McCaffrey's usage should be through the roof with George Kittle and a slew of receivers out, but this could be a tougher spot than normal with Brock Purdy out and LT Trent Williams (knee) questionable.***
6.Jahmyr Gibbs DET vs. CHI
7.Bucky Irving TB at HOU
8.Chase Brown CIN vs. JAX
9.*James Cook BUF at NYJ
Note: Cook (hamstring) was limited Wednesday but had a full practice on Thursday. ***Cook was cleared from the injury list.***
10.Ashton Jeanty LV vs. LAC
11.Kyren Williams LA at TEN
12.De'Von Achane MIA vs. NE
13.Chuba Hubbard CAR at ARI
14.*Travis Etienne JAC at CIN
Note: Etienne was dynamite in the season opener, and draws another good matchup against the Bengals this week.
15.*Breece Hall NYJ vs. BUF
Note: Hall looked shot out of a cannon against the Steelers.
16.Jonathan Taylor IND vs. DEN
17.Alvin Kamara NO vs. SF
18.D'Andre Swift CHI at DET
19.Omarion Hampton LAC at LV
20.James Conner ARZ vs. CAR
21.TreVeyon Henderson NE at MIA
22.Jacory Croskey-Merritt WAS at GB
23.*J.K. Dobbins DEN at IND
Note: Dobbins received considerably more work than RJ Harvey, getting 16 carries for 63 yards and a touchdown.
24.David Montgomery DET vs. CHI
25.*Aaron Jones MIN vs. ATL
Note: Jones was outrushed by Jordan Mason, but Jones had one of the biggest plays in the passing game with a 27-yard go-ahead touchdown reception.
26.Jaylen Warren PIT vs. SEA
27.Jordan Mason MIN vs. ATL
28.Tony Pollard TEN vs. LAR
29.*RJ Harvey DEN at IND
Note: Harvey only had six carries in the win over Tennessee and was out-touched by J.K. Dobbins 18-to-7. It might be tough sledding early on, though at least he showed his explosive ability with a 50-yard run.
30.Kenneth Walker SEA at PIT
31.Javonte Williams DAL vs. NYG
32.*Nick Chubb HOU vs. TB
Note: Chubb might have been the one positive offensive factor from Sunday's loss to the Rams, netting 60 yards on 13 carries.
33.*Trey Benson ARZ vs. CAR
Note: Benson showed his explosiveness with a 52-yard run in the third quarter, ending up with 69 yards overall.
34.*Zach Charbonnet SEA at PIT
Note: Charbonnet stole the goal line carries from Kenneth Walker and was the better back in Week 1.
35.*Dylan Sampson CLE at BAL
Note: Sampson received a lot more work than Jerome Ford and was far more effective. Both could lose out to Quinshon Judkins as early as this week, however.
36.Isiah Pacheco KC vs. PHI
37.Rhamondre Stevenson NE at MIA
38.*Tyrone Tracy NYG at DAL
Note: ***The Giants couldn't get the running game untracked last week, and they'll still be without LT Andrew Thomas (foot), who is listed as doubtful.***
39.Rachaad White TB at HOU
40.Kareem Hunt KC vs. PHI
41.Ray Davis BUF at NYJ
42.Ollie Gordon MIA vs. NE
43.Tyler Allgeier ATL at MIN
44.*Brian Robinson SF at NO
Note: Robinson struggled against Seattle, but at least he's the clear backup behind CMC, with Guerendo not getting any offensive snaps.
45.*Jerome Ford CLE at BAL
Note: Ford couldn't get untracked, nor was he involved that much in the passing game compared to Dylan Sampson.
46.Rico Dowdle CAR at ARI
47.Cam Skattebo NYG at DAL
48.*Bhayshul Tuten JAC at CIN
Note: Tuten might take a few extra snaps now that Tank Bigsby is an Eagle, but it's now pretty clear that Travis Etienne is the starter.
49.Najee Harris LAC at LV
50.Braelon Allen NYJ vs. BUF
51.Justice Hill BAL vs. CLE
52.Kenneth Gainwell PIT vs. SEA
53.*Quinshon Judkins CLE at BAL
Note: Judkins had his first official practice Thursday with the Browns after missing Wednesday due to a league hearing in New York. ***Judkins is listed as questionable but will be active for Sunday's game at Baltimore.***
54.Woody Marks HOU vs. TB
55.Samaje Perine CIN vs. JAX
56.Ty Johnson BUF at NYJ
57.Miles Sanders DAL vs. NYG
58.*Tank Bigsby PHI at KC
Note: Bigsby pretty clearly gets hurt in the short-term with the trade to the Eagles - he might serve as the second back if Will Shipley (ribs) has to sit, but that role will still be far less than what he'd get with the Jaguars.
59.Devin Singletary NYG at DAL
60.*Roschon Johnson CHI at DET
Note: Sat out Week 1 on Monday night with a foot injury. Limited practice Thursday. ***Johnson fully practiced Friday and has been cleared to return.***
61.Dameon Pierce HOU vs. TB
62.Julius Chestnut TEN vs. LAR
63.DJ Giddens IND vs. DEN
64.Tahj Brooks CIN vs. JAX
65.Kendre Miller NO vs. SF
66.*Blake Corum LA at TEN
Note: Corum is the clear backup to Kyren Williams, with rookie Jarquez Hunter a healthy scratch in Week 1. That still netted him just 10 offensive snaps.
67.Zamir White LV vs. LAC
68.*Kyle Monangai CHI at DET
Note: Monangai played just nine offensive snaps on Monday night, even with Roschon Johnson (foot) out.
69.*AJ Dillon PHI at KC
Note: Dillon might get a little extra work this week if Will Shipley (oblique) can't play, but the fact that the Eagles added Tank Bigsby doesn't bode well for him in the long run.
70.Chris Brooks GB vs. WAS
71.*Kaleb Johnson PIT vs. SEA
Note: Johnson managed just two offensive snaps, seeing most of his action on special teams. I'm not yet dropping him, but obviously he's unplayable right now.
72.*Emanuel Wilson GB vs. WAS
Note: Wilson received only two offensive snaps, compared to nine for Chris Brooks.
73.*LeQuint Allen JAC at CIN
Note: Allen moves up a chair following the Jaguars trading Tank Bigsby to the Eagles.
74.Isaiah Davis NYJ vs. BUF
75.Dare Ogunbowale HOU vs. TB
76.Devin Neal NO vs. SF
77.Sean Tucker TB at HOU
78.*Kalel Mullings TEN vs. LAR
Note: Mullings injured his ankle in the loss to the Broncos.
79.*Will Shipley PHI at KC
Note: Shipley (oblique) didn't practice Wednesday and Thursday. ***Shipley has been ruled out for Week 2.***
80.*Keaton Mitchell BAL vs. CLE
Note: Mitchell was a healthy scratch for Week 1. I'm not going to take him off the list for at least another week, with the thought that Justice Hill had a pretty rough game.
81.*Raheem Mostert LV vs. LAC
Note: Mostert was a healthy scratch against the Pats, sitting behind Zamir White.
82.*Chris Rodriguez WAS at GB
Note: Rodriguez somewhat surprisingly was a healthy scratch for Week 1.
83.Jaydon Blue DAL vs. NYG
84.*Jaylen Wright MIA vs. NE
Note: Wright took part in a limited practice Thursday. ***Wright is listed as doubtful.***
85.*Austin Ekeler WAS at GB
Note: Ekeler (shoulder) was a limited participant in Tuesday's practice. Ekeler was cleared from the injury list for Thursday's game. ***Ekeler suffered a torn Achilles' tendon Thursday night in the loss to the Packers and is out for the season.***

Wide Receivers

1.Ja'Marr Chase CIN vs. JAX
2.CeeDee Lamb DAL vs. NYG
3.*Justin Jefferson MIN vs. ATL
Note: How concerned should we be that Minnesota managed only 20 passes in Week 1, with just seven targets to Jefferson?
4.*Puka Nacua LA at TEN
Note: Nacua briefly left with a forehead laceration, but he was cleared of a potential concussion and quickly returned to the game.
5.Brian Thomas JAC at CIN
6.Amon-Ra St. Brown DET vs. CHI
7.*Malik Nabers NYG at DAL
Note: Nabers (back) fully practiced Thursday and has been cleared from the injury list. ***The Cowboys will be playing without DaRon Bland (foot).***

12.Marvin Harrison ARZ vs. CAR
13.A.J. Brown PHI at KC

15.Mike Evans TB at HOU
16.Tee Higgins CIN vs. JAX
17.Terry McLaurin WAS at GB
18.*Zay Flowers BAL vs. CLE
Note: Your WR1 after Week 1.
19.*Tyreek Hill MIA vs. NE
Note: Hill is not on the injury list this week, after being listed as questionable last week.
20.DK Metcalf PIT vs. SEA
21.*DJ Moore CHI at DET
Note: Moore briefly left after taking a big hit in the fourth quarter, but then returned for the final series. Moore (abdomen/groin) has fully practiced so far this week.
22.Davante Adams LA at TEN
23.Emeka Egbuka TB at HOU
24.Tetairoa McMillan CAR at ARI
25.Courtland Sutton DEN at IND
26.Ricky Pearsall SF at NO
27.Calvin Ridley TEN vs. LAR
28.*Hollywood Brown KC vs. PHI
Note: Brown had a whopping 16 targets in the opener - some of that was based on game flow, but another big part of it was that Xavier Worthy got hurt.
29.Keenan Allen LAC at LV
30.*Jerry Jeudy CLE at BAL
Note: Jeudy's drop on 4th down was one of the many critical plays that allowed the Bengals to steal a win against the Browns.
31.*Deebo Samuel WAS at GB
Note: Samuel was the leading receiver for the Commanders in Week 1 and also scored a rushing touchdown.
32.Travis Hunter JAC at CIN
33.DeVonta Smith PHI at KC

35.George Pickens DAL vs. NYG
36.Chris Olave NO vs. SF
37.Jakobi Meyers LV vs. LAC
38.*Jaylen Waddle MIA vs. NE

39.*Keon Coleman BUF at NYJ
Note: The advanced metrics (route win rate, separation stats, etc...) don't match what we saw on Sunday night - in this instance, I'll trust what we saw.
40.Rome Odunze CHI at DET
41.*Quentin Johnston LAC at LV
Note: Johnston looked amazing in his debut, and most importantly he saw a heavy snap and route share.
42.Jameson Williams DET vs. CHI
43.Calvin Austin PIT vs. SEA
44.Khalil Shakir BUF at NYJ
45.Cedric Tillman CLE at BAL

50.Adam Thielen MIN vs. ATL
51.Romeo Doubs GB vs. WAS
52.Stefon Diggs NE at MIA

Note: Robinson (ankle) was limited in Thursday's practice. ***Robinson is listed as questionable, as opposed to teammate Darius Slayton, who was cleared on Friday.***

Note: Golden (ankle) only had two targets in the win over the Lions. Cleared from the injury list.
55.Rashod Bateman BAL vs. CLE

57.DeMario Douglas NE at MIA
58.*Olamide Zaccheaus CHI at DET
Note: Zaccheaus is ahead of Luther Burden in the pecking order.
59.*Jauan Jennings SF at NO
Note: Jennings left the Week 1 win over the Seahawks with a left shoulder injury. The injury isn't considered serious, but there's still some risk that he misses this week. Jennings has missed the first two practices of the week. ***Jennings returned to a limited practice Friday, and he's listed as questionable. The Niners are optimistic he can play, according to Ian Rapaport.***
60.Alec Pierce IND vs. DEN

69.Marvin Mims DEN at IND

Note: Slayton (groin) was limited in Thursday's practice. ***Slayton got cleared from the injury report on Friday.***

78.KhaDarel Hodge ATL at MIN
79.DeAndre Hopkins BAL vs. CLE

92.Kyle Williams NE at MIA

101.*Casey Washington ATL at MIN
Note: Washington had six targets with Darnell Mooney out. Washington is in the concussion protocol and has missed the first two practices of the week. ***Ruled out this week.***

Note: Reynolds (hamstring) sat out Thursday's practice. ***Reynolds has been ruled out.***
103.*Christian Kirk HOU vs. TB

104.*Chris Godwin TB at HOU
Note: Godwin (ankle) was limited in his first practice back with the Bucs on Thursday. ***No activity on Friday, and was subsequently ruled out for Monday night. This was presumably part of the Bucs' plan to ease Godwin back into action.***
105.*Jalen Royals KC vs. PHI
Note: Royals (knee) sat out practice both Wednesday and Thursday. ***Ruled out again this week.***
106.*Jayden Reed GB vs. WAS
Note: Reed (foot) had his reps capped in Tuesday's walk-through practice. This will be the regular pattern for him, especially in short weeks like this one. Reed has been cleared from the injury list. ***Reed suffered a broken collarbone and will be out until November.***

Tight Ends

1.Trey McBride ARZ vs. CAR
2.*Brock Bowers LV vs. LAC
Note: Bowers left Sunday's win over the Pats with a knee injury, but the team downplayed the severity of it afterwards. Bowers sat out the Raiders' first practice of the week on Thursday. ***Bowers also sat out Friday, but returned to a limited practice Saturday. He's listed as questionable, but is expected to play.***
3.Sam LaPorta DET vs. CHI
4.Travis Kelce KC vs. PHI
5.T.J. Hockenson MIN vs. ATL
6.Tyler Warren IND vs. DEN
7.Jake Ferguson DAL vs. NYG
8.Zach Ertz WAS at GB
9.*Juwan Johnson NO vs. SF

17.Dalton Kincaid BUF at NYJ

22.Chig Okonkwo TEN vs. LAR
23.Tyler Conklin LAC at LV
24.Noah Fant CIN vs. JAX

26.Theo Johnson NYG at DAL
27.Pat Freiermuth PIT vs. SEA
28.Dalton Schultz HOU vs. TB
29.*Tyler Higbee LA at TEN
Note: ***Teammate Colby Parkinson (shoulder) is listed as doubtful. That might add an extra target for Higbee, but it also might mean more reps for Davis Allen and rookie Terrance Ferguson.***
30.Cade Otton TB at HOU
31.Ja'Tavion Sanders CAR at ARI
32.*Michael Mayer LV vs. LAC
Note: If Brock Bowers (knee) has to miss any time, Mayer is a decent pickup option. He had four catches for 38 yards in the win over the Pats.
33.AJ Barner SEA at PIT
34.Grant Calcaterra PHI at KC
35.*Elijah Arroyo SEA at PIT
Note: Arroyo netted only 16 snaps, as the Seahawks kept A.J. Barner in to block far more often.

37.Noah Gray KC vs. PHI
38.Will Dissly LAC at LV

Note: Knox (hip) was limited during Thursday's practice. ***Knox has been cleared from the injury list.***
40.Luke Musgrave GB vs. WAS

Note: Tonges was out-snapped by Luke Farrell after George Kittle's injury, but Tonges caught the miracle touchdown to give the Niners the win.
42.*Dallas Goedert PHI at KC
Note: Goedert (knee) hasn't yet practiced this week. ***Goedert has been ruled out for Week 2.***
43.*Darren Waller MIA vs. NE
Note: Waller (hip) hasn't yet returned to practice. ***Waller has been ruled out again this week.***
44.*Isaiah Likely BAL vs. CLE
Note: Likely (foot) hasn't yet returned to practice. ***Likely won't play again in Week 2.***
45.*George Kittle SF at NO
Note: Kittle was already on his way to a big day, with four catches and a touchdown, but suffered a hamstring injury that knocked him out, and now he's going to miss at least four weeks after being placed on IR.

Flex (RB/WR/TE)

1.Derrick Henry BAL vs. CLE
2.*Christian McCaffrey SF at NO
Note: ***McCaffrey's usage should be through the roof with George Kittle and a slew of receivers out, but this could be a tougher spot than normal with Brock Purdy out and LT Trent Williams (knee) questionable.***
3.Ja'Marr Chase CIN vs. JAX
4.CeeDee Lamb DAL vs. NYG
5.*Justin Jefferson MIN vs. ATL
Note: How concerned should we be that Minnesota managed only 20 passes in Week 1, with just seven targets to Jefferson?
