Series/tournament: Caribbean Premier League
Venue: Guyana National Stadium, Providence
Date: October 4, 2019
Time: 3:30 a.m. IST
Match Preview:
The upcoming clash between Guyana and Jamaica in the CPL 2019 will have little effect on the points table, as the fate of the two sides has already been sealed. While Guyana, with eight wins on the trot, have ensured that they will finish as the number one side at the end of the league stage, the Tallawahs, on the other hand, have no chance of further qualification. They have managed just two wins in their encounters thus far, and lie at the bottom of the table with four points in their kitty.
Weather Conditions: Temperatures will remain in the high 30s on match day, with 20% chance of rain. Humidity will be over 70% as well, and the players should be in for a hot day with still conditions.
Pitch Conditions: Only three games have been held at the Guyana National Stadium this season, with the average first innings score just over 160. The pitch keeps slow and low, and helps spinners as the game progresses. Run scoring is not the easiest here, and teams batting first have emerged victorious two times this year.
Guyana Amazon Warriors:
Needless to say, the Guyana side hardly needs any tinkering, and the same XI is expected to go into this match as well. Though resting a few players ahead of the play-offs might be an option, the franchise will aim

Needless to say, the Guyana side hardly needs any tinkering, and the same XI is expected to go into this match as well. Though resting a few players ahead of the play-offs might be an option, the franchise will aim to carry forward the momentum they have built, and give their players adequate match practice ahead of the crucial games.
Shoaib Malik (c), Ben Laughlin, Imran Tahir, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Brandon King, Chris Green, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Sherfane Rutherford
Jamaica Tallawahs:
Jamaica, despite their dismal run in the edition, will look to bow out on a high. They have a few names who are more than capable of inflicting damage on the rivals. Glenn Phillips will be keen to add to his tally and cement his spot at the top of the run-getters list, while Chris Gayle will be looking for a final flourish here.
Chris Gayle, Dwayne Smith, Jerome Taylor, Chadwick Walton (c), Liton Das, Trevon Griffith, Ramaal Lewis, Imran Khan, Glenn Phillips (wk), Zahir Khan, Shamar Springer
Top picks:
Wicket-keeper: Glenn Phillips (9 credits)
Jamaica's wicket-keeper Glenn Phillips is the only consistent batter from the side this season and tops the run-getting charts with 353 runs in nine innings. He already has three fifties to this name, and has been striking the ball at a rate of over 153. Not only does he get points with the willow in hand, he also picks up vital Dream11 points with the gloves - he has affected 11 dismissals in the league thus far.
Batsman: Brandon King (8.5 credits)
Brandon King is Guyana's most successful batter this CPL, with 287 runs from eight innings. Batting with a strike rate of 142.78, the batsman has scored three fifties already with a high score of an unbeaten 81. King will be looking to take on an inconsistent Jamaica bowling attack, and will fancy his chances on a track that will suit his style of play.
All-rounder: Keemo Paul (8.5 credits)
Both Shoaib Malik and Keemo Paul have contributed in their team's successful run this year, pitching in with the bat when called up and bowling tidy overs with the ball as well. However, Keemo Paul is the preferred all-rounder, as he has sent down more overs than the Guyana skipper, and is a regular bowler as compared to Malik, who has bowled just eight overs in eight games. This not only increases Paul's chances of getting a wicket, but also ensures that he will be among the points even if his services with the bat are not needed.
Bowler: Imran Tahir (9.5 credits)
Despite being in his 40s, Imran Tahir is a tough bowler to navigate, and is one of the most economical bowlers around the world in the format. In just five innings, the South African has picked up 10 wickets at an average of just 11.50. He has also conceded runs at an economy rate of just over 6, and with the conditions here expected to help the tweakers, Tahir can be counted upon to be among the wickets yet again.
Captain: Glenn Phillips, Imran Tahir
