Quarterback
Chandler Morris,
Virginia ($8,500) vs. Virginia Tech
I respect what the Hokies tried to pull off against Miami last week, but the good vibes of the James Franklin hiring and Senior Day in Blacksburg are in the rear-view mirror. All Virginia has to do is win at home, and they're in the ACC title game. Virginia Tech has some of the worst numbers in the FBS against the pass, and it's a supreme spot for Morris to get things going through the air. The Cavs are coming off a bye week and have had plenty of time to watch tape on Virginia Tech and what they'll try to do. The atmosphere should be electric by Charlottesville standards, and I will gladly take Morris at a FanDuel salary that's incredibly low for what you're getting.
Bear Bachmeier,
BYU ($11,400) vs. UCF
I originally had Diego Pavia pencilled in as my second pick, but his salary didn't fit well with my aims at other positions. Ultimately, I was able to settle on Bachmeier for a bit less, and the Vols have history on their side after neutralizing Pavia last season. Bachmeier's numbers don't jump off the page often, but he should have a good total against a South Florida defense that struggles against the pass. The Bulls' defensive unit is generally strong against the run, which could limit Bachmeier's dual-threat ability, but the BYU quarterback has shown that he doesn't need to depend entirely on his legs to get the job done. If the Cougars win, they are in the Big 12 Championship. They'd need a lot of help if they lose, so Bachmeier and company will be highly motivated to generate points.
Also consider: Julian Sayin,
Ohio State ($9,200) @ Michigan, Ashton Daniels,
Auburn ($8,000) vs. Alabama
Running Back
J'Mari Taylor,
Virginia ($9,700) vs. Virginia Tech
I'm following my Virginia QB lock with Taylor, who could easily lead all running backs in this slate. Taylor is the complete package and could feast on Virginia Tech's defense if his offensive line holds up. I would hope for a slightly closer game to keep Taylor on the field, but he should be able to produce a good number, even if he's pulled a little early.
Noah Whittington,
Oregon ($9,100) @ Washington
I wavered on this pick because Jordon Davison ($7,600) is much lower and has been a touchdown machine for Oregon. Still, Whittington has produced the higher yardage totals over the past month and provided a steadier floor over Davison's TD-dependent line. While Washington's run defense held up earlier in the season, they've struggled against top-tier teams that have superb offensive lines. That describes Oregon to a tee. I don't object to using Davison, but Whittington projects slightly better.
Also consider: Jadan Baugh,
Florida ($9,300) vs. Florida State
Wide Receiver
First, let's get USC's receivers out of the way. I get the desire to go after Makai Lemon ($11,200) and Ja'Kobi Lane ($8,100) against the Bruins, but I am fading both guys for two reasons. They won't be needed as much in this game, and they're also prohibitively expensive based on how we've spent so far. Maybe going with Tanook Hines ($6,300) with his more agreeable salary is viable, but we have to buy low after our high spending at quarterback and running back.
Kenyon Sadiq,
Oregon ($7,500) @ Washington
Oregon will get some of its pass-catchers back this week, but they've discovered the secret sauce with Sadiq, who I expect will get used a lot more as the Ducks move into the postseason. Hr's hard to cover and stepped up in a big way against USC, and while I don't usually endorse tight ends, Sadiq is at another level.
Cam Coleman,
Auburn ($7,300) @ Alabama
The Tigers sat Ashton Daniels against Mercer so he could start against the Crimson Tide. Coleman and Daniels were in sync against Vandy, and he also scored a touchdown against Mercer without him. Daniels was an honorable mention in the quarterback section, but let's go with his most popular target against Alabama.
Max Klare,
Ohio State ($6,200) @ Michigan
Word has just come in that Jeremiah Smith is now probable, but it's likely that he'll be limited in this game. Carnell Tate is out, so we should see more of Klare against a Michigan defense that will hone in on Smith when he is on the field.
Also consider: Junior Sherrill,
Vanderbilt ($7,600) @ Tennessee
