Each week throughout the season I have shared my favorite college player props as part of our DFS College Football series. I finished out the regular season with a perfect 4-0 week to bring the season record to 32-22 (59.3%). I'll keep the picks coming all the way through the National Championship.
We find our edge with RotoWire's Picks & Props tool. Multiple prediction factors help decide if we should lean "higher" or "lower" on all of the player props available across multiple sportsbooks and DFS sites. I use the tool as a starting point to highlight favorable prop lines that I might otherwise miss and to narrow down my options before doing a deeper dive into trends and matchups.
Below are the best picks you can make on Underdog Fantasy this week.
QB Ty Simpson, Alabama
Simpson has topped 250 pass yards in eight of 12 games this season, including a 276-yard effort against this Georgia team. He averaged 255.8 in eight conference games.
Simpson has carried the offense while the team has struggled to run the ball all season, averaging just 126.2 rush yards per game (103rd in the nation). Now they'll be facing Georgia's top 10 rush defense and will have to move the ball through the air to compete in this game.
Although Alabama and Georgia have a reputation for elite defense, we've seen some strong offensive performances when these teams meet each other. In fact, each team has scored at least 21 points in every meeting since 2015. Look for the same on Saturday, and lock in this number on Underdog today before the line catches up to the other DFS sites that have it as high as 253.5.
CFB Underdog Pick: Ty Simpson HIGHER than 245.5 pass yards
QB Anthony Colandrea, UNLV
Colandrea has five straight games over 250 pass yards and is averaging 286.9 in the past seven games. The only team to hold him below that number was the same Boise State team that he will face this week.
I don't feel as confident in this pick, as Boise has had success defending the pass this season, but I expect enough passing volume to top this number. The over/under in this game is set at 58.5 points with the Broncos being a 4.5-point favorite. The Rebels will have to get the passing game going to keep up.
Consider waiting a couple of days before locking this one in, as I expect the number on Underdog to come down based on the lines at other DFS sites.
CFB Underdog Pick: Anthony Colandrea HIGHER than 237.5 pass yards
RB J'Mari Taylor, Virginia
We can't ignore Taylor's production over the past four games. He has become the focal point of the offense, averaging 104 rush yards per game, including a massive 133 yards on 18 carries against Duke just three weeks ago.
Duke has a middle-of-the-pack run defense, allowing 141 rush yards per game. Over the past three games, starting running backs are averaging nearly 6.5 yards per carry against the Blue Devils.
A win gets Virginia into the College Football Playoffs, and the Cavaliers would be smart to put the ball in their top playmaker's hands when it matters most.
CFB Underdog Pick: J'Mari Taylor HIGHER than 90.5 rush yards
WR Reggie Virgil, Texas Tech
Virgil has topped this number in eight of 12 games this season, including a three-catch, 54-yard effort against BYU. What really gives me confidence in him and this prop is the target volume. He has at least five targets in 11 of 12 games this season, including six games with at least seven targets.
BYU has been solid but not elite in defending the pass. The Cougars have allowed 205.6 pass yards per game, ranking 46th in the country. I expect a balanced attack from the Red Raiders, which will include enough passes in Virgil's direction to get him over the number.
CFB Underdog Pick: Reggie Virgil HIGHER than 43.5 receiving yards
