2025 Fantasy Outlook
Last season, his first in Dallas, Thompson posted 14.0 points in 27.3 minutes per game, both his lowest marks since his rookie season. The sharpshooter saw a dramatic drop in usage with his new squad, but he still shot 39 percent from deep and 90 percent from the free-throw line, which is impressive given all the moving parts (injuries and trades) around him. Dallas will be looking for more continuity this season, led by a strong returning group and the 2025 No. 1 overall pick, Cooper Flagg. Kyrie Irving is expected to miss the first half of the season, which could give Thompson a slight boost to start the campaign. However, if last year made anything clear, it's that the veteran will be a secondary option, regardless of who's on the court. Thompson finished outside the Top 100 in eight-category leagues last season, marking the first time in his career he played at least 66 games and wasn't Top 80. Thompson is still a three-point specialist who can flirt with top-100 value for those in category leagues, but he doesn't have much upside at this point in his career. Read Past Outlooks
Another single-digit performance
Thompson accumulated nine points (3-8 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and one assist over 22 minutes during Saturday's 110-104 win over Houston.
ANALYSIS
Thompson scored in single digits for the third time in the past five games, arguably his most passive stretch of the season. With his best well behind him, Thompson's entire fantasy value is now reliant on his three-point shooting. In 33 appearances thus far, he has averaged just 11.1 points and 2.7 three-pointers in 21.7 minutes per game, leaving him well off the standard-league radar.

Thompson saw his scoring dip to fewer than 20 points per game last year, his lowest mark since the 2012-13 season. Despite playing in 77 total games, Thompson struggled to replicate what he has done in the past, not surprising given his recent injury history. He ended as the 95th-ranked player in nine-category leagues, averaging 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.6 steals and 3.5 three-pointers. The Warriors failed to make any real noise last season and subsequently opted to part ways with Thompson during the offseason. Now residing in Dallas, Thompson will line up alongside Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic, where he will look to prove he's still an elite perimeter scorer. He should remain among the league leaders when it comes to made three-pointers, however, it is clear that his lateral movement on the defensive end has regressed. His overall value is now reliant on points, threes and free-throw percentage. Keeping this in mind, he could be viewed as more of a specialist than a must-roster fantasy asset. He is fine to target later in drafts if you need a boost in scoring.

ANALYSIS
Thompson is under contract through the 2026-27 season, and with the Mavericks struggling in the Western Conference, he's hoping to latch on with a contender. His contract includes a 15 percent trade kicker, something he'll likely need to waive if he wants a change of scenery. He's had a tough season in Dallas thus far, averaging 11.1 points on 37.0 percent shooting from the field.
