Detroit Pistons vs. Atlanta Hawks: Jalen Duren under 22.5 points + assists, PrizePicks, 1.30 PM CT
Duren has been one of the most dominant big men in the NBA this season, and his old-school style of play has given the Pistons a sizable edge at the rim against most teams. However, the Hawks aren't one of those. Duren is one of the most athletic centers in the league, but Atlanta can counter that with Onyeka Okongwu, who's also turning heads with his play on both ends of the court.
Duren is coming off an impressive 31-point, 15-rebound, three-assist performance against the Pacers on Monday, but this is going to be the second leg of a back-to-back set while facing a tougher matchup. Duren has reached this 22.5 P+A line in four of his last seven appearances dating back to the beginning of November, but that streak might end here. Okongwu's smothering defense should make things very difficult for Duren.
Utah Jazz vs. Los Angeles Lakers: LeBron James over 20.5 points + assists, Sleeper, 1.30 PM CT
James (back) remains a game-time call for Tuesday's matchup against the Jazz. However, after participating in the morning shootaround, he's likely to play, although likely under some kind of minutes restriction. James couldn't have asked for a better matchup to make his season debut, as the Jazz are among the worst defensive teams in the NBA and have given up a league-worst 135.7 points per game over their last three games while ranking in the bottom half of the league in field-goal percentage allowed to his opponents.
Even if James has some type of restriction in terms of minutes, he shouldn't have problems leaving his mark in this game against a young, inexperienced Utah team. James had at least 32 points + assists in three of the four games he had against Utah last season, and he surpassed that line comfortably in the two head-to-head meetings at home, which will be the case Tuesday as well.
Phoenix Suns vs. Portland Trail Blazers: Shaedon Sharpe over 27.5 points + assists, Underdog, 1.30 PM CT
Sharpe has been on a tear of late and is coming off posting a season-high 36-point performance in the 138-133 overtime loss to the Mavericks on Sunday. Having scored 30-plus points in three of his last four contests, Sharpe has been moving in the right direction as a scorer, and it'd be fair to call him the Blazers' go-to option on offense, even ahead of the ultra-consistent Deni Avdija and clearly over veterans Jrue Holiday (calf) and Jerami Grant. Sharpe has been slacking a bit in the playmaking department, though that's because Holiday has stepped into a bigger role on that side of things.
However, Sharpe has dished out at least three assists in his last three games, and he posted a season-high six dimes Sunday -- a game where Holiday didn't play. With Holiday, who is on the NBA injury report, being doubtful to play Tuesday, Sharpe could surpass this P+A line if he stays as involved on the ball as he has been in the last few games. Over his previous five contests, Sharpe is averaging 28.4 points and 2.8 assists per game.
