FanDuel NBA: Friday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel NBA series.

Point Guard

Isaiah Canaan, $3,700 - There are a few interesting choices to punt with at the position with D.J. Augustin ($4,000) and Ronnie Price ($3,800) both possible options. However, it appears that Canaan is the safest choice as he appears to have earned himself a spot in the starting lineup. That spot has come with starter's minutes (at least 32 in each of his last three games) and he's delivered 19, 21.1 and 23.6 fantasy points as a result. Miami isn't a great matchup but they did play last night and have to travel to Philadelphia for this one.

D'Angelo Russell, $6,000 - He seems like such an obvious play yet Wednesday night he was only roughly 70-75 percent owned in cash games. That's was likely a huge mistake for those that faded him and he turned in his fourth straight game of at least 31 fantasy points. He returns home tonight and will be relied on heavily once again with Kobe Bryant, Jordan Clarkson and Lou Williams all nursing injuries. Don't worry about the $700 jump in price here as his opponents the Hawks, should be pretty weary as they wind down a long road trip.

Shooting Guard

Gary Harris, $4,800 - Ever since the injury to Danilo Gallari (two games, full disclosure) Will Barton has been a disappointment. However, Harris has continued to log heavy minutes for the Nuggets and has been a steady fantasy contributor. He's tallied at least 19.9 fantasy points in eight of his last nine contests and draws a nice matchup tonight. Harris gets a home matchup against Nets, a team that's given up the third most fantasy points to opposing shooting guards. Josh Richardson ($3,700) is probably the best option for a near-minimum priced punt option.

Zach LaVine, $5,300 - He was only owned 35-40 percent owned in cash games Wednesday night and rewarded owners with a nice 28.6 fantasy point performance. That was the third game in a row with at least that many points and his worst game over his last 10 was 18.9 fantasy points. That shows what a high floor he has and has minutes have been consistently in the mid-to-upper 30s as of late. This is a plus matchup too as the Bucks have given up the seventh most fantasy points to opposing shooting guards.

Small Forward

Mario Hezonja, $3,800 - Hezonja came through with a career game Wednesday night and using him tonight completely hinges on the health of Evan Fournier. Hezonja has hit at least 5X his value in three of his last four games with Fournier out and gets a Suns' team that has lost 17 straight games on the road. Given that setup, it would make a lot of sense that the Magic play it safe if Fournier and give Hezonja the start along with minutes at least in the mid-20s.

Bojan Bogdanovic, $4,000 - Bojan will probably be the most chalky play at the position tonight given his price and production since Joe Johnson left town. He's scored 31.9, 26.7, 9.6 and 22.4 fantasy points since joining the starting lineup and the one dud was in a tough matchup against the Jazz in which he got into foul trouble. Short of getting into foul trouble again he's a lock for over 30 minutes and gets a good matchup going against Jakarr Sampson.

Power Forward

Aaron Gordon, $6,400 - Gordon has only burned owners once in his last 10 games scoring at least 30 fantasy points in nine of those contests. His one "dud" was still 20 fantasy points so it was possible to still win in cash games given it wasn't a total failure. Tonight he gets the Suns, a team that given up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing power forwards over their last five games.

Gorgui Dieng, $6,300 - Going back to the Jabari Parker ($5,900) well makes a ton of sense here but Dieng actually has the better matchup of the two. The Bucks have given up the fifth most fantasy points to opposing power forwards and Dieng has firmly cemented his spot in the starting lineup. Even though he's hit a bit of a scoring drought (15 points over his last two games) he still has at least 23 fantasy points in nine of his last 10 games and six of those were at least 33 fantasy points. Dieng has seen his minutes get cut on the second night of back-to-back games but that won't be an issue tonight.

Center

Alex Len, $5,300 - This appears to be a good position to pay up for tonight with Karl Anthony-Towns (MIL), Hassan Whiteside (PHI) and Al Horford (LAL) all looking at good matchups. If a mid-priced option needed, Len is the guy to look at. Even in blowouts (like at Charlotte two games ago) Len still got 34 minutes of playing time and has played at least that amount in each of his last three contests. He's scored at least 28.1 fantasy points in five of his last six games and the Magic have given up the fourth most fantasy point to opposing power forwards (a spot he gets to play in with Tyson Chandler on the floor).
