Tuesday's MLB slate begins at 3:05 PM Eastern time and features 16 games, including a Nationals-Phillies doubleheader. While some of the league's top pitchers are scheduled to take the mound in this slate, there's good value to be found in more middling price tiers. Owners looking to minimize spending on certain positions are also in luck, as the Marlins and Dodgers can provide some hitters with excellent potential at bargain prices.

PITCHER
Sonny Gray, NYY at MIN ($37): The stars are aligning for a strong Gray performance here. He's appeared in six games (one start) since being demoted to the bullpen, posting a tidy 1.83 ERA in 19.2 innings. When Gray was struggling in the rotation earlier this season, his problems came primarily at Yankee Stadium -- his road ERA is 3.09 while his home mark is 6.98. Additionally, the Yankees have a mental edge against the Twins -- heading into this series, New York owns a 93-33 head-to-head advantage, including the playoffs, since 2002. That dominance includes an 8-2 mark since the start of last season.
Mike Fiers, OAK at BAL ($45): Fiers has been terrific since joining a contending team in Oakland, going 4-0 with a 2.94 ERA in six starts with the A's. He's got a great opportunity to keep rolling here against a historically bad Baltimore club that's averaging only 3.87 runs per game.

CATCHER
Yasmani Grandal, LAD at CIN ($7): The switch-hitting Grandal has done his best work from the left side this year, producing a .352 wOBA against righties and just a .313 mark facing lefties. He'll bat from his preferred side with Cincinnati sending right-hander Luis Castillo to the mound. Left-handed batters have been Castillo's bugaboo all season, as the 307 to face him have mustered a .389 wOBA.
FIRST BASE
Ji-Man Choi, TB vs. CLE ($20): Rookie Cleveland righty Shane Bieber has held right-handed hitters to a minuscule .289 wOBA, but batters from the left side have tagged him for a .395 mark. With a .397 wOBA against right-handed pitching, Choi is a platoon nightmare for Bieber. The Korean slugger also benefits from hitting in the heart of Tampa Bay's batting order, thus maximizing RBI opportunities.
SECOND BASE
Starlin Castro, MIA at NYM ($12): Castro has a .340 wOBA against lefties and a .384 mark in that split on the road. Miami's two-hole hitter will be facing one of the league's most vulnerable lefties here in Jason Vargas of the Mets. Vargas has been pummeled to the tune of a .391 wOBA by the 251 batters to face him from the right side this season.
THIRD BASE
Matt Chapman, OAK at BAL ($23): Chapman has a .387 wOBA in righty-on-righty matchups, and that number climbs to .423 on the road, where the young stud isn't limited by Oakland Coliseum's 0.80 park factor. Oriole Park at Camden Yards sports a much more forgiving 1.06 park factor, while Baltimore righty Alex Cobb has allowed a .363 wOBA to batters from the right side in 2018.
SHORTSTOP
Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs. TOR ($21): Bogaerts has been much better than usual in righty-on-righty matchups, but his .344 wOBA against lefties is actually below the shortstop's career .361 mark. Still, Bogaerts is set up for success against Blue Jays southpaw Ryan Borucki. Batting cleanup for the league-leading Boston offense offers Bogaerts RBI opportunities that most shortstops can only dream of.
OUTFIELD
Lewis Brinson, MIA at NYM ($10): It's a tiny sample, but Brinson has been much better since rejoining the team for September, with a .423/.423/.615 line in seven games. Despite his early struggles, Miami's top prospect still has a respectable .344 career road wOBA against lefties. At just $10, the upside here is hard to ignore given Vargas' aforementioned inability to neutralize right-handed hitters.
Shohei Ohtani, LAA vs. TEX ($24): Unlike most right-handed hitters, Ohtani actually struggles against left-handed pitching but absolutely eviscerates fellow righties. His .449 wOBA in righty-on-righty matchups suggests Los Angeles' cleanup hitter should thrive against Rangers starter Adrian Sampson. Sampson has faced 27 major-league hitters in his career, allowing a .462/.481/.808 line and .543 wOBA.
Joc Pederson, LAD at CIN ($8): Pederson is practically useless against southpaws, but the left-handed slugger has a .367 wOBA when facing righties. Like his teammate Grandal, Pederson should provide strong value at an affordable price against Castillo. Batting leadoff further helps Pederson's allure here.
