Yahoo DFS Baseball: Monday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

There are some top pitchers in Monday's slate, but due to rain expected on the East Coast, it may be best to avoid them. I went with a couple arms that are small favorites, though due to situation may be under owned. Either way, check on the rain in New York and Philadelphia before submitting a lineup.

PITCHER

German Marquez, COL vs. ARI ($46): This game has a high over/under at 10 runs, but that won't matter if Marquez has close to 10 strikeouts again. He's hit at least 20 fantasy points in his last five home starts mostly because of strikeouts as he has 24 in his last two outings. The Diamondbacks have lacked power against righties since the All-Star break with a .146 ISO and a subpar 22.3 K% doesn't help.

Jakob Junis, KC vs. CWS ($38): This pick is somewhat against the grain, but Junis allowed just two hits in his last start against the Indians and hasn't allowed more than two runs in his last five outings. While he hasn't surpassed 15 fantasy points in three starts against the White Sox this year, it's hard to ignore Chicago's 25.4 K% and .307 wOBA against righty arms over the last month.

CATCHER

Chris Iannetta, COL vs. ARI ($10): Iannetta's numbers at home are much better and that makes him a decent play for cheap. He has a .247 ISO and .364 OBP against righty arms at Coors Field with 11 extra-base hits in only 73 at-bats. Zack Godley has a decent record, but he's hit-or-miss and has given up at least four runs in three of his last four starts

FIRST BASE

Josh Bell, PIT at STL ($13): Bell caught fire over the weekend and has a .388 OBP in the last month against righties to go with a .339 wOBA over the last three years. Adam Wainwright is making his first start since May due to an elbow injury and wasn't pitching well in limited time before that. Combine rust with last year's .351 wOBA allowed to lefties and Pittsburgh is a good team to back.

SECOND BASE

Adam Frazier, PIT at STL ($14): Here's another play against Wainwright and Frazier has been even better against righties with a .427 OBP since the break and a .362 wOBA for the season. It's hard to see Wainwright having success in his first start back after struggling in early appearances and having a 4.55 xFIP against lefties last year.

THIRD BASE

Evan Longoria, SF vs. ATL ($13): Most of Longoria's value has come against southpaws this season with a .242 ISO and .340 wOBA. He doesn't cost much going against Sean Newcomb, who walked five in his last start and has given up 16 runs in his last four. Newcomb's overall numbers are solid, but in his two-year career he has a 4.69 xFIP against righty bats.

SHORTSTOP

Alcides Escobar, KC vs. CWS ($12): Escobar rounds up a cheap infield with a bat that's consistently getting on base with a .373 OBP against righties in his last 88 at-bats. Lucas Giolito was on a nice run and then only made it 1.1 innings against the Tigers last week. With a 5.85 ERA, there's a good chance those struggles continue.

OUTFIELD

Aaron Hicks, NYY at MIN ($19): Hicks doesn't break the bank and he's been stout against righties since the break with a .451 OBP to go with a .366 wOBA for the season. Kyle Gibson hasn't been as bad as his record shows, yet he's close to a guarantee to allow multiple runs and he has a 4.52 xFIP against lefty hitters.

Carlos Gonzalez, COL vs. ARI ($16): Gonzalez is usually a good bet at home against a righty as seen in his .285 ISO from 21 extra-base hits (7 HR) in 130 at-bats. As for Godley, he only made it five innings and gave up four runs against the Padres last start and a trip to Coors Field won't be easier.

Alex Gordon, KC vs. CWS ($13): Gordon is usually worth trying against an iffy righty due to his 27 extra-base hits (11 HR) and .332 wOBA. Giolito couldn't do much last start (1.1 IP, 4 ER) and his .350 wOBA allowed to lefties should benefit Gordon and the Royals.
