Yahoo DFS Baseball: Friday Picks

This article is part of our Yahoo DFS Baseball series.

STARTING PITCHER

Matt Shoemaker, LAA vs. SEA ($35): Shoemaker has only made three starts this season, but he's posted a 2.94 FIP in those contests. All of those games have been on the road as well. This is his first chance to pitch at home this year. The Mariners have been struggling since the All-Star break, as they rank 28th in runs scored in that time.

Zach Eflin, PHI vs. MIA ($32): Eflin has had a slight breakout campaign, as he has a 3.90 FIP. More notable, he's struck out 8.45 batters per nine innings, best of his career. The best thing that Eflin has going for him, though, is the matchup. Miami is last in runs scored by a hefty margin.

CATCHER

Francisco Cervelli, PIT at MIL ($11): Cervelli has averaged 6.0 fantasy points per game, which he owes partially to his robust .384 OBP, which is a personal best. He's also hit 11 homers, the most of his career. Though Gio Gonzalez's first start as Brewer went well, over his last 15 starts with the Nationals he had a 6.78 ERA.

FIRST BASE

Carlos Santana, PHI vs. MIA ($17): Santana has had some issues on the road, but at home he has a .866 OPS. He's also been hitting for a lot of power recently, as he has a .547 slugging percentage and five homers over his last 30 games. Meanwhile, Wei-Yin Chen has some EXTREME splits. At home, he has a 1.77 ERA, but on the road that balloons to a staggering 9.35

SECOND BASE

Brandon Lowe, TAM vs. OAK ($14): Lowe has been hot, as he has a 1.156 OPS in his last 30 games. That's despite struggles against lefties, which won't be an issue with right-handed starter Edwin Jackson on the mound for Oakland. As for Jackson, though he has an unusually good 3.26 ERA, his FIP is a less impressive 4.69.

THIRD BASE

Nolan Arenado, COL at SF ($16): Arenado has been stellar as always, as he's slashed .301/.382/.567 with 34 homers in 139 games. While his numbers aren't quite as good on the road, he still has 14 homers away from Coors Field, so it's not all home cooking. When you can get a player like Arenado at this price, you jump on it, especially since Giants starter Chris Stratton has a 4.99 ERA.

SHORTSTOP

Tim Anderson, CWS at BAL ($16): Anderson's slash line isn't impressive, but his counting numbers are. He's hit 19 homers and stolen 26 bases, putting him on the verge of a 20/20 season. Luis Ortiz has only pitched two-thirds of an inning in the majors (in relief), but on the season in Triple-A he had a 4.39 FIP.

OUTFIELD

Michael Conforto, NYM at BOS ($19): Conforto has really struggled at home, but on the road he's been a potent bat. He has a .874 OPS in away games, and recently he's enjoyed a power surge. Over his last 14 games he has six homers. Hector Velazquez has pitched most of the season in the bullpen, but even with that he has a 4.39 FIP.

Giancarlo Stanton, NYY vs. TOR ($17): Yes, Stanton has been cold recently, but that just makes this a buy-low opportunity. He's still the top power hitter in the majors, and he has 33 homers on the season. Stanton could easily find his footing against Marco Estrada. The Jay starter has a 5.39 FIP and has allowed 1.80 homers per nine innings.

Eddie Rosario, MIN at KC ($12): Rosario has been dealing with injuries recently, which has dropped his price. However, if he's healthy enough to take the field, he could be a steal. The 27-year-old has averaged 7.0 fantasy points per game, thanks in part to 23 home runs. Jorge Lopez has spent the bulk of his season in the bullpen for the Brewers, but in his four starts with the Royals he has a 4.94 ERA.
