MLB DFS: DraftKings Plays and Strategy for Friday, September 26

The final weekend of the MLB regular season kicks off Friday. There are 12 games on the slate for DFS purposes, the first of which starts at 7:05 p.m. ET. We will have plenty of opportunities for MLB DFS in the postseason, but let's end the regular season with gusto! Here are my recommendations.

Pitching

Connelly Early, BOS vs. DET ($8,900): I'm fully committed to betting against my beloved Tigers at this point, but Early has been quite impressive. He's only 23, and he's only made three MLB starts, but he has a 0.90 FIP and 7.33 K/BB rate. Yes, that's only three outings, but he had a 2.64 FIP at Triple-A and a 2.43 FIP at Double-A. Also, throughout the minors, and in the pros, he's been an elite strikeout pitcher.

Slade Cecconi, CLE vs. TEX ($8,000): Over his last six starts, Cecconi has a 3.32 ERA. There's a good chance the Rangers are going to end up in the bottom 10 in runs scored. They are currently on the fringes, and with Corey Seager and Marcus Semien both out (though Semien had a rough season) it seems unlikely the Rangers are going to get the offense firing on all cylinders to close out the campaign.

Joey Wentz, ATL vs. PIT ($6,000): At this salary, and with this matchup, I'm down to roll the dice on Wentz. It's been a mixed bag over his last 10 outings, but in that time he's allowed two runs or fewer on six occasions. Yeah, the other starts have been decidedly worse, but I don't see the Pirates roughing up Wentz. They are going to finish last in runs scored and team OPS, after all. Given his salary level, Wentz merely needs to deliver a quality start of any kind to really provide value.

Top Targets

In addition to having crossed the threshold of 30 in doubles, homers and stolen bases, Corbin Carroll ($6,100) has a whopping 17 triples. He's posted a .932 OPS versus righties in 2025 as well. Yu Darvish is likely to start for the Padres, and the righty had a 5.51 ERA. While Petco Park makes it hard to hit home runs, Carroll obviously has no problem picking up two, or three, bases at a time.

If this proves to be the final season for Pete Alonso ($5,200) with the Mets, he's going out with a bang. The slugger has 37 homers, 39 doubles and a whopping 123 RBI. Alonso has slugged .559 against his fellow righties as well. Sandy Alcantara has a 5.48 ERA, and righties have hit .261 against him for good measure.

Bargain Bats

It's been about as bleak a season as possible for the Rockies, but if you are looking for silver linings, Mickey Moniak ($3,600) has hit .270 with 24 homers and eight triples. Now, he's got heavy home/road splits, like many Colorado players past and present, but he's slugged .549 against righties. He also has a .984 OPS over the last three weeks, and he's played the majority of his games in that time on the road. The righty Kai-Wei Teng hasn't really cut it in MLB yet. His career ERA is 7.30.

At the catcher position, Patrick Bailey ($3,000) has an .846 OPS over the last three weeks. He's also consistently been better at home in his career. German Marquez may pitch for the Rockies, but he also has a 6.96 ERA on the road in 2025. Both lefties and righties have hit over .300 against him this year as well.

Stacks to Consider

Royals at Athletics (Luis Morales): Bobby Witt ($5,800), Maikel Garcia ($4,500), Vinnie Pasquantino ($4,200)

When Morales joined the Athletics, it went well for a while. Then, the calendar turned to September and things fell apart. Morales has a 5.06 ERA and 3.0 HR/9 rate over his last four outings. Notably, righties have hit three times as many homers as lefties, so I have two righties for this stack. Fortunately, Kansas City's big three happens to have two right-handers anyway. Witt has stepped back from last year, but he's still hit .294 with 23 homers, 46 doubles and 37 stolen bases. He's slugged .504 against righties as well. The 23 stolen bases from Garcia are not a surprise, but he's also hit .286 with 16 homers and 38 doubles. He has an .811 OPS on the road as well, and the Athletics' temporary home has proven to be hitter friendly. Pasquantino has more than 100 RBI, which he would have done last season had he not gotten hurt, but he's also seen a real uptick in power this season. He's hit 32 homers, 26 of them coming against righties.

Blue Jays vs. Rays (Adrian Houser): George Springer ($5,100), Daulton Varsho ($4,300), Addison Barger ($4,200)

Houser was pitching excellently for the White Sox, but that always felt fluky. Indeed, in nine starts since joining the Rays he has a 4.65 ERA. That's not surprising, given that he has a career 4.04 ERA. Since 2023, lefties have hit .273 against Houser, so I have two southpaws in this stack.

For the first time, Springer has hit 30 home runs and picked up double-digit stolen bases in the same season. He's also primed for his first .300 campaign. While Springer is a righty, he has a .982 OPS versus right-handed pitchers. Varsho has hit 20 home runs in only 68 games. He's slugged .613 against righties, which will certainly work in this matchup. Barger has been cold, but he's hit 20 homers and 31 doubles in 132 games. He's slugged .475 against righties and also slugged .479 at home.
