Here are my Fantasy Aces recommendations for Monday.
P - Jordan Zimmermann - $9,300 - Zimmerman has been more dependable and productive than other big names in this rotation, particularly in recent starts. He is on a roll, allowing only one earned run in each of his last three starts, during which he has struck out 15 and walked six batters. He has also limited all comers to 12 hits in 18.2 IP.
P - Eduardo Rodriguez - $7,400 - The Boston lefty is on a three-game winning streak and has pitched four consecutive quality starts. In that span, he has allowed only five earned runs in 26 IP, while striking out 17 and walking only four. He looks like a bargain.
C - J.P. Arencibia - $3,000 - He is back in the big leagues and has made a loud return, belting five homers and driving in 13 runs in a 38 at-bat sample. He faces a struggling lefty, CC Sabathia, in what looks like a favorable matchup.
2B/SS - Jonathan Schoop - $2,300 - Schoop is blending in nicely to a lineup that features a number of capable power hitters. He is riding the crest of a power surge that has seen him collect three homers as part of a 9-for-29 stretch in his last seven starts. He gets Boston lefty Rodriguez in the Monday matchup.
2B/SS - Corey Seager - $3,100 - Seager is yet another rookie who has made an impressive debut in 2015. He has 14 hits in his first 34 at-bats, including six extra-base hits and seven RBI and is well protected in the Angels' veteran lineup. He faces an inconsistent Taijuan Walker on Monday.
1B/3B - Trevor Plouffe - $2,400 - Plouffe is on the verge of smashing his single-season highs in all major batting categories. He is one of the best power-hitting third basemen this season with 20 homers and 54 extra-base hits. He comes into Monday's game on a 10-for-24 tear and faces a reeling Kyle Lobstein, who has allowed 15 hits and 11 earned runs in only 10 innings in his last two starts.
1B/3B - Evan Longoria - $3,400 - This price looks very low considering the 61 at-bat sample that has seen him produce six homers, 14 RBI and a .507 OBP against Sabathia, who is a far cry from his former self this season. To make matters worse for the Yankees, Longoria is 10 for his last 27 with four extra-base hits in the last week.
OF - Yoenis Cespedes - $5,100 - While presenting several bargain picks, I can't overlook this power bat that is rolling. He has four homers, four doubles and 12 RBI in his last seven games. I lean hard on a power hitter who is on a hot streak, so this is an easy pick.
OF - Mookie Betts - $4,100 - Betts has risen above Boston's lost season to shine as one of their stars of the future. He is on an 18-game hitting streak and has raised his average to .290. He also has 12 extra-base hits in this impressive run, and he's a threat on the basepaths with 19 steals.
OF - Lorenzo Cain - $4,000 - Do you need to be reminded that the speedy center fielder is not just to be recognized for his defensive prowess? He comes into Monday's action hitting .312 with a career-high 53 extra-base hits and 16 homers. What has he done lately? How about two homers, four RBI and eight runs scores in his last six games?
Util - Mark Canha - $3,700 - Canha has enjoyed a fine rookie campaign, emerging as a new power source with 15 homers and 63 RBI for the As. He looks to be finishing strong, with nine hits in his last 30 at-bats, including three homers and eight RBI in his last seven starts. He gets a favorable matchup against lefty John Danks and the White Sox on Monday.
Other favorable options, based on career splits against their Monday opponents include:Justin Upton OF, $3,700; Logan Forsythe, 2B, $3,600; Grady Sizemore, OF, $2,200; Asdrubal Cabrera, SS, $3,300; Eric Hosmer 1B, $3,000
