2025 Fantasy Outlook
Garland played a pivotal role in the Cavaliers obtaining the top seed in the East. The Vanderbilt product played a career-high 75 regular-season games and was named to his second All-Star game after averaging 21.6 points, 6.7 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.1 steals over 30.2 minutes per game through the first two-thirds of the season. The Cavs' regular-season success didn't carry over into the playoffs, mainly due to Garland spraining his left big toe at the tail end of the regular season. This injury limited him to just 14.0 points and 4.0 assists in 28.3 minutes per game over his final three appearances in the postseason. He underwent surgery in early June, but with a recovery timeline of about five months, he's expected to miss the start of the 2025-26 season. Garland has connected on over 40 percent of his three-point attempts in two of the last three seasons and has averaged 20-plus points in three of the last four campaigns, so he'll give the Cavaliers an offensive boost once he has fully recovered from his procedure. Goes through light workout Tuesday
Garland (toe) went through a light individual workout after Tuesday's shootaround, Chris Fedor of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
ANALYSIS
While it's encouraging to see Garland on the floor in some capacity, his activity Tuesday doesn't seem to indicate a significant change in his recovery from offseason toe surgery. The star guard remains likely to miss at least the first handful of games to open the regular season. Lonzo Ball will likely start at point guard for Opening Night, and Cleveland's offense should run through Donovan Mitchell in the early going.

Garland's 2023-24 season was interrupted by a six-week absence from mid-December to late January due to a fractured jaw. He got out to a strong start and averaged 20.7 points, 2.8 rebounds 5.9 assists and 1.6 steals through his first 20 games of the season. After his return, he averaged 16.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 1.1 steals over his final 37 appearances of the regular season. His production took another slight step backward in the playoffs, where he averaged 15.7 points, 3.5 rebounds 5.8 assists and 1.1 steals in 35.9 minutes over 12 outings. Overall, he reached the 20-point mark in 22 games, including five with at least 30 and a season-high of 36 points on 11-for-23 shooting during a road loss against the Magic in early December. Garland continued to pose a respectable threat from long range, shooting an average of 37.1 percent from deep on the season, knocking down more than three threes on 13 occasions and a high of eight three-pointers in a single game. He also dished more than seven assists 22 times, including a season-high 12 assists on two occasions. Garland is set for his sixth NBA season as a member of the Cavaliers and is likely to continue to shine alongside Donovan Mitchell, as a top-tier backcourt duo.
