Here are my recommendations for games on Monday, June 1:
SP – Mike Pelfrey ($5,100) – After allowing four runs in five innings in his first start of the season, Pelfrey has been consistently solid, posting an ERA under 2.30. The Monday price is attractive and can give some flexibility at the other positions, particularly with none of the current Red Sox posting great numbers against him.
SP – Jordan Zimmermann ($6,650) – This pick is as much about Zimmermann as his opponent, R.A. Dickey, who has been serving up the long ball at an alarming rate of late, with seven in his last four starts. That is good news for the Nats' prolific offense. For his part, Zimmerman has been a model of consistency, with nine quality starts in his 10 appearances and a nice 41:14 K:BB ratio.
C – Wilson Ramos ($4,700) – This pick is going to give you flexibility to add big bats elsewhere. Ramos is 9-for-13 against Dickey and is a nice savings as part of a Nationals stack.
2B/SS – Joe Panik ($4,650) – Panik has been playing well of late, posting a .296 batting average with two home runs, seven RBI and a stolen base in his last seven games.
2B/SS – Jhonny Peralta ($5,050) – Peralta has been even hotter than Panik, hitting .393 with two home runs and nine RBI in the last week.
1B/3B – Paul Goldschmidt ($5,850) –Goldschmidt has been one of the best hitters in the majors this season, and he's especially hot of late, hitting .500 with four home runs in the past week. He's now up to .354 and 15 homers for the season.
1B/3B – Josh Donaldson ($5,500) – Donaldson already has half the number of home runs this year as last, including six in his last seven games, and he could very well be an MVP candidate if it keeps up all season.
OF – Giancarlo Stanton ($5,500) – While it's a small sample size, Stanton is a solid 5-for-12 against Monday starter Jason Hammel, who has actually struggled against a number of Marlins he'll be facing.
OF – Colby Rasmus ($4,150) – Rasmus has enjoyed his time on a surprising Astros team that is leading their division. He has posted very good numbers against the Orioles' Ubaldo Jimenez, which includes eight extra-base hits in 31 at-bats. He has slumped in the past few days, going hitless in three of his last four, but he must be looking forward to this matchup to right himself.
OF – Delmon Young ($4,150) – Young has really enjoyed his stint in Baltimore dating back to last season. He continues to hit over .300, and he hit his first two home runs of the season Sunday.
Util – Nolan Arenado ($4,850) – Currently one of the hottest hitters in the majors, Arenado is batting .429 with five homers and 14 RBI in his last seven games. Don't shy away from him despite Clayton Kershaw being the opposing starter; I say go with this scalding bat and like your chances.
Other favorable BvP matchups: C Brian McCann $5000, 1B Chris Davis $4600, SS Brandon Crawford $4800, OF Steven Souza $4750, SP Jaime Garcia $5600
