FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

FanDuel MLB: Wednesday Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.

Welcome back to another edition of our FanDuel value picks for Wednesday, June 24. Tonight's contests include 10 games with all sorts of options to choose from. The division races will start to heat up as we approach the mid-summer classic, and guys are looking to kick start a good second half of the season. As usual, be sure to check last minute lineup changes and check in on any players with day-to-day injuries. Below are the guys that should provide good value for their current price tag.

Starting Pitcher:
Jordan Zimmermann, $8,300
- Zimmermann hasn't performed up to his expectations so far this season, but he is still one of the better pitchers that we have to choose from on tonight's schedule. At $8,300, he has the firepower to provide top end value especially against a Braves offense that has scored just one run in each of the last two games. Zimmermann is 5-5 with a 3.75 ERA and will look to get back on track at home on Wednesday. Wandy Rodriguez at $6,700 would be a solid lower-end option.

Catcher:
Jonathan Lucroy, $3,100
- Lucroy missed a good chunk of the first half of the season with an injury, which certainly affected his production early on. He still remains one of the most talented all around catchers in the game and he's too good not to break out. Lucroy's driven in nine runs over the last week and a half, and the six game home stretch that the Brewers just started should certainly help him bet back to form. The Brewers get Bartolo Colon of the Mets and his 4.81 ERA on Wednesday.

First Base:
Lucas Duda, $3,100
- Duda is off to a nice start in the first half of the 2015 season with 10 home runs and 30 RBI to go along with a .268 average and 37 runs scored. He's a big part of reason why the Mets are contending in the NL East this year, and he'll play a big part in their success moving forward. The Mets get Jimmy Nelson of the Brewers on Wednesday in very hitter-friendly Miller Park. Duda could be in for a big night.

Second Base:
Neil Walker, $2,500
- Walker returned to the Pirates lineup on Tuesday after an illness that had plagued him the day prior. He bats cleanup for the Pirates which provides him plenty of opportunity to produce and in multiple categories. Walker hasn't had his best season up to this point, but he still has the offensive firepower to provide good value at such a low price tag. The left-hander will get a nice matchup against Mike Leake of the Reds on Wednesday. Kolten Wong at $3,000 would also be a safe play.

Third Base:
Mike Moustakas, $2,900
- Moustakas was a huge part of the Royals playoff run a season ago, and he's carried that success into the first half of this season. He finally seems to be living up to the hype after entering his big league career with high expectations. Moustakas is batting .327 with six home runs, 28 RBI, and 36 runs scored. With a price tag of $2,900, the Royal's third baseman can be of great value hitting in a lineup that is solid from top to bottom.

Shortstop:
Starlin Castro, $2,500
- Castro hasn't had his best season so far, but he's still performing at an above-average level amongst all shortstops. He's batting .264 with five home runs and 35 RBI so far this year and should have plenty of opportunity to produce moving forward, batting in the middle of a solid Cubs offense. The Cubbies won the first two games of a four game set against the Dodgers, and they'll need Castro in a big way if they want to complete the sweep.

Outfield:
Andrew McCutchen, $4,100
- After an absolutely horrible start to the season, the franchise outfielder has really bounced back as we approach the mid-summer classic. McCutchen is batting .340 over the last month with 13 runs scored and 17 RBI. Despite early season questions about his early struggles, McCutchen was simply way too talented to not bust out. The Pirates will need him in a big way if they want to contend by the end of the season. McCutchen gets a home matchup against Mike Leake of the Reds on Wednesday who enters with a 4.01 ERA and just 55 strikeouts across 89.2 innings pitched.

Justin Upton, $3,300 - In his first season as a San Diego Padre, Upton has gotten off to a monster start. In 263 at-bats Upton has scored 42 runs to go along with 13 long balls and 43 RBI. Throw in the 14 stolen bases and you've got a five-tool fantasy stud who's having one of the best seasons of his career up to this point. The Padres will get Ryan Vogelsong and the Giants on Wednesday night in what should be a solid matchup in their favor. Vogelsong has seen his velocity drop over the last two seasons, and he enters Wednesday's contest with a 4.38 ERA in 12 starts.

Curtis Granderson, $2,900 - Granderson hit home run number 10 against the Brewers on Tuesday at very hitter-friendly Miller Park. The Brewers will toss another right-hander on Wednesday in Jimmy Nelson who currently holds a record of 3-8 with a 4.64 ERA. Over the last two weeks, Granderson has scored nine runs to go along with a .280 average and two long balls. The Mets offense should have a good chance to break out of the recent slump against Nelson on Wednesday, and Granderson will be setting the table.

Other Notable Outfielders:
Gregory Polanco, $2,500
Alex Gordon, $2,600
