Welcome back to another edition of my FanDuel value picks of the day for Wednesday, June 3. We have 11 games on tonight's slate which will provide plenty of options to choose from at each position. Be sure to check any last minute lineup changes along with any players who may be battling nagging injuries before submitting your teams. Below are my value plays of the week. Good Luck.
Starting Pitcher:
Jon Lester, $9,700 - Although the price tag is still fairly high compared to most nights, Lester comes in as the fifth most expensive pitcher on the evening. Lester enters this game with a 4-3 record to go along with a 3.30 ERA and 61 strikeouts over 62.2 innings pitched. He's coming off one of his best starts of the year in which he tossed seven innings of one run ball with two walks and 10 strikeouts. Lester gets a Marlins team on Wednesday that ranks 24th in the league in total runs scored and he'll be pitching in a very pitcher friendly ball park. The Cubs lost on Tuesday, and we'll certainly bounce back against a bottom feeding Marlins team. Lester should have just as nice of a night as the four pitchers that are priced above him.
Catcher:
Nick Hundley, $2,900 - Hundley played game two of a double-header on Tuesday, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBI. Hundley holds an average of .307 through a quarter of the season to go along with five home runs and 18 RBI. He's been one of the better offensive catchers up to this point, and his price tag comes in as the sixth highest amongst active catchers on Wednesday. Hundley will be hitting at very hitter friendly Coors Field on Wednesday and should continue to provide solid value for his current price tag.
First Base:
Chris Davis, $3,500 - Davis enters Wednesday's game with 12 long balls and 31 RBI. This is great power production for a guy that also enters with the 11th most expensive price tag on the evening. First base is a position that is loaded with talent which is the main reason for this, and it makes guys like Davis a great value when he produces. Nine of his 12 home runs on the year came against right handed pitchers, and he'll get one on Wednesday in Lance McCullers of the Astros who will be making just his fourth start of the year for Houston. Davis could be a steal at $3,500.
Second Base:
Dustin Pedroia, $3,100 - Pedroia and the Red Sox will get a double-header on Wednesday at home against the Twins. Be sure to check the lineup of game two to assure that Pedroia is in the lineup after playing game one. Some managers like to rest their veteran players in game two, especially if the win the first one. If Pedroia is in the lineup, he should provide great value as he enters with the ninth highest price tag of all second baseman. After injuries plagued him a season ago, Pedroia has bounce back into usual form with a .288 average to go along with seven home runs and 21 RBI. He'll get the short porch in left field at Fenway on Wednesday against the Twin's Trevor May in game two. May enters with an ERA of 5.07 in nine starts on the year. If Pedroia is not in the lineup, then Jose Altuve ($3,800) at home against Baltimore would be another solid play.
Third Base:
Trevor Plouffe, $3,000 - Plouffe will be in the same boat as Pedroia in regards to the double-header on Wednesday, so be sure to check on the lineup for game two to assure that Plouffe is playing. He enters with a .274 average to go along with eight long balls and 29 RBI on the year which is great production for a guy with eighth highest price tag amongst third baseman. He'll get a matchup with Rick Porcello on Wednesday who enters with an ERA of 5.37 across 10 starts. The short porch in left field is always a bonus for right-handed hitters so keep that in mind. Joey Gallo ($2,900) is going to be a popular play on Wednesday after he debuted with a monster game on Tuesday. The fact that he'll be facing a left-handed ace in Chris Sale is good enough reason to stay away from him this time around. If Plouffe isn't in the lineup, then I like Manny Machado ($3,400) against Houston on Wednesday.
Shortstop:
Marcus Semien, $2,700 - Semien enters with the sixth highest price tag amongst active shortstops on Wednesday, and his five-tool potential makes him a great value play at that position. Semien enters with a .282 average to go along with six home runs, 16 RBI, 27 runs scored and seven stolen bases. He can do it all on a baseball field and guys like that, are hard to come by. He'll get a matchup with Anibal Sanchez and the Tigers on Wednesday in Detroit. Sanchez enters with an ERA of 5.75 in 11 starts on the year and I like Semien to have a solid evening against the veteran.
Outfield:
Joc Pederson, $4,100 - It's hard for me to get away from this guy so far this year, but he's been that good up to this point. Pederson has homered in four consecutive games which included a monster shot in game two off a double-header last night against the Rockies. He now has 16 home runs and 31 RBI on the season to go along with 31 runs scored. He'll be hitting at hitter friendly Coors Field once again on Wednesday in a matchup with right-hander Chad Bettis who will be making just his 13th start of his Major League career. Bettis holds a career ERA of 5.77 up to this point, and Pederson has hit 13 of his 16 home runs off of right-handers this season.
Josh Reddick, $3,100 - Reddick has one of the lower price tags amongst all outfielders that have been providing the production that he has so far this year. He's hitting .297 with seven home runs and 31 RBI on the season and he'll get a great matchup against right-hander Anibal Sanchez on Wednesday. Reddick is batting .352 against righties this year which includes all seven of those home runs. Reddick is a steal at $3,100.
Steven Souza, $3,600 -Souza enters Wednesday's game with 10 home runs and 22 RBI to go along with 26 runs scored and seven stolen bases. The .228 average isn't appealing, but Souza produces well in the four other categories which still makes him a good threat at $3,600. He's been hot as of late hitting four home runs in his last seven games and he'll get a nice matchup against left-hander Hector Santiago of the Angels on Wednesday.
