It's a light night for MLB on Thursday, with only four games on the slate. Don't let that stop you from playing DFS baseball, though. Here are some recommendations to help you with your lineup decisions.
PITCHING
Luis Castillo, CIN vs. MIA ($9,700): Castillo is the clear choice at pitcher for me here. While he has a 4.51 ERA, over his last 15 starts he has a 2.89 ERA. The 28-year-old has also been better at home, as he has a 3.72 ERA in Cincinnati. As for the Marlins, they sit 24th in runs scored.
TOP TARGET
Joey Votto, CIN vs. MIA ($4,000): Votto may be 37, but he's having a resurgent season. He's slashed .281/.375/.569 with 26 homers. Also, over the last 21 days he has a 1.025 OPS. Rookie pitcher Zach Thompson does have a 2.91 ERA, but his ERA on the road is 3.86. On top of that, while Thompson has mowed down righties, he's let lefties hit .247 against him, and Votto is no ordinary lefty.
VALUE BAT
Willy Adames, MIL at STL ($3,300): Adames was struggling with Tampa to start the season, but since being dealt to Milwaukee he has a .943 OPS with 17 homers in 76 games. He's also been much better on the road, as he has a .937 OPS in away games. Jon Lester had a 5.16 ERA last season, and this year he's been even worse, as he has a 5.32 ERA.
STACK TO CONSIDER
Yankees vs. John Gant: Joey Gallo ($3,800), Giancarlo Stanton ($3,600), DJ LeMahieu ($3,400)
Gant's 3.49 ERA is not bad, but his 4.76 FIP definitely does not inspire confidence. On top of that, he has been primarily pitching out of the bullpen recently. Now he has to go back to starting. Gallo has been getting on base with ease, as he has a .366 OBP. He also has 29 home runs. It's a little surprising that Stanton has only slugged .457, but he has a .363 OBP. Plus, it's never a surprise if his power shows up. LeMahieu's power has completely left him this year, but he's still hit .270 and posted a .351 OBP.
