This article is part of our FanDuel MLB series.
The players featured in this piece will be building blocks that can work in several lineup configurations (cash and GPP). The Dodgers will look to close out the Brewers with a win in Game 6 of the NLCS on Friday. The evening also brings an opportunity to play FanDuel's single game contest, so let's examine some players who can hopefully help you end the night a winner, as well.
MVP
Manny Machado, LAD ($9,500): Machado went hitless in Game 5 for the first time this series, but he still contributed with a walk, a run scored a stolen base. He's already slugged three home runs during the Dodgers current playoff run, one of which came in Game 1 against left-hander Gio Gonzalez. Machado posted a .383 wOBA against lefties this season and will face another one in Wade Miley on Friday, although it's unclear exactly how long Miley will pitch in this contest.
Justin Turner, LAD ($8,500): After coming through with two more hits in Game 5, Turner is now 10-for-35 (.286) with five walks in the playoffs. He was a tough out during the regular season with a .406 OBP and a 12.7 percent strikeout rate. Like Machado, he's had plenty of success versus lefties with a 179 wRC+ against them during the regular season.
INFIELD
Jesus Aguilar, MIL ($8,000): Aguilar went deep in Game 1, but he has just one extra base hit and has failed to drive in a run since. He's still one of the Brewers most potent power hitters, slugging 35 home runs during the regular. With his .389 wOBA against left-handed hitters during the regular season, he could be a key batter in this game against Hyun-Jin Ryu.
Orlando Arcia, MIL ($5,500): Not known as much for his bat, Arcia has at least one hit in every game that he has started in the playoffs. Arcia only hit three home runs during the regular season, but he's found his power stroke with three home runs in the playoffs, two of which have come In the NLCS. At this cheap price, it's worth taking the chance that he continues to swing a hot bat for at least one more game.
Austin Barnes, LAD ($4,000): With Yasmani Grandal's defensive struggles, Barnes has found himself in a starting role in this series. He's expected to start again Friday, despite Grandal being a far superior offensive option. Barnes only had a .237 wOBA against right-handed pitchers this year, but he was better with a .316 wOBA against lefties. After getting a hit in each of his last two games, he might be worth the risk in tournament play based on the relief he provides for your budget.
OUTFIELD
Lorenzo Cain, MIL ($8,000): Cain hasn't exactly thrived in the playoffs, but he does have a pair of multi-hit games in the NLCS. He was one of the Brewers most consistent hitters during the regular season with a .359 wOBA. He had a lot of success with a .422 wOBA against lefties, making him someone to target against Ryu.
Cody Bellinger, LAD ($7,500): Bellinger burst onto the scene in 2017 with a .581 slugging percentage across 132 games. His slugging percentage dropped to .470 this year, but a lot of that was due to his .404 slugging percentage at Dodger Stadium. He was a different hitter on the road with a .533 slugging percentage, making him an intriguing option with this game being played in Miller Park.
Ryan Braun, MIL ($7,000): Braun hit 20 home runs during the regular season, but his .330 wOBA was the lowest mark of his career. In an effort to make up for that in the playoffs, he's hitting 10-for-34 (.294) across eight games. Although he only has one extra base hit during that stretch, he's worth considering for your entry based on his .360 wOBA against lefties.
