The Red Sox and Dodgers won't get much rest after the marathon that was Game 3 of the World Series on Friday. The Dodgers were able to pull out the win and will look to tie up the series with another victory Saturday. If the Red Sox can come away victorious, they'll take a commanding 3-1 series lead. The evening doesn't need any more excitement, but let's try to add to it anyways with a winning entry on DraftKings.
Rich Hill, LAD ($13,500): Hill is expected to start Saturday since the Dodgers were able to avoid using him in Game 3. He hasn't pitched in over a week, so he's plenty rested heading into this start. The Dodgers sure could use some length from him after using nine pitchers Friday. Two of his three playoff appearances have been starts and while he didn't log more than five innings in either contest, he allowed a combined three runs across 9.1 innings. His 10.2 K/9 during the regular season also leaves him with strikeout potential for your entry.
Mookie Betts, BOS ($11,100): It was an ugly Game 3 for Betts, who went 0-for-7 with three strikeouts. He was 4-for-8 across the first two games of this series, but he's still looking for his first home run of the playoffs. With that being said, he still has one of the highest upsides of any hitter Saturday, making someone to consider despite his lofty price tag.
Manny Machado, LAD ($9,900): Machado went 1-for-7 Friday and now has one hit in each of the first three games of this series. His power drought hasn't been as bad as Betts, but Machado hasn't gone deep since Game 1 of the NLCS. With left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez set to start, Machado could turn things around in this game based on his .383 wOBA against lefties during the regular season.
Justin Turner, LAD ($7,900): Turner came away with two hits Friday and has recorded at least one hit in all but three games during the postseason. That kind of floor is enticing. Add in his 179 wRC+ against lefties and he could be a great option at this reasonable price.
David Freese, LAD ($6,000): With Rodriguez set to start, Freese should be in the starting lineup. Right-handed pitchers have held Freese to a .337 wOBA, but he has a .377 wOBA against lefties. He's also experienced some valuable performances during the Dodgers' playoff run and actually entered Game 3 with at least one hit in each of the last three games in which he played.
Steve Pearce, BOS ($5,900): Pearce is hitless since Game 3 of the ALCS, but he does have five walks over his last 12 plate appearances. He had recorded at least one hit in each of the first six games that he started during Boston's playoff run, so he hasn't exactly been struggling. At this cheap price, he could be worth considering based on his .407 wOBA against lefties.
Eduardo Rodriguez, BOS ($2,700):Nathan Eovaldi was supposed to start Saturday, but he was forced to throw six innings of relief in Game 3. Rodriguez also pitched in that contest, but he's been tabbed as the Red Sox starter Saturday. The good news is he threw only six pitches Friday, but the bad news is he hasn't thrown more than 31 pitches in any appearance during the postseason. Don't expect him to go deep into this contest, but he could be a difference maker in tournament play at this price if he can pitch well in three or four innings.
