DraftKings Fantasy Soccer: Wednesday EPL Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings Fantasy Soccer series.

GOALKEEPER

Heurelho Gomes, WAT v NOR ($3,400): Norwich City have been shut out in four consecutive games, with their most recent one clinching their relegation fate. Watford haven't been very good defensively of late, but Norwich's ineptitude outweighs the other tough matchups on the slate.

Vito Mannone, SUN at EVE ($4,200): It's not often that you see a Sunderland goalkeeper as the most expensive player at the position, but Mannone gets the honor in a game that could see Sunderland officially clinch their spot in the Premier League next season. Everton are certainly capable of scoring goals, and Sunderland fully capable of allowing them, but Mannone has a decent shot at the win bonus plus the saves likely to come with Everton taking many shots.

DEFENDER

Leighton Baines, EVE v. SUN ($4.800): Speaking of Everton scoring goals, Baines has been much more involved in the attack of late and even scored against Bournemouth two games ago. The price is certainly high, but he's been a very consistent source of points and Sunderland are hardly a tight defensive unit.

DeAndre Yedlin, SUN at EVE ($3,100): With Everton slow on the wings, Yedlin and Patrick van Aanholt ($3,900) could be flying forward, though taking the $800 savings on the American seems prudent despite van Aanholt scoring at least 11 fantasy points in two of the last three games.

Baba Rahman, CHE v. LIV ($3,400):John Terry's suspension likely moves Rahman back into the starting XI, with Cesar Azpilicueta moving to the right. Rahman is a decent crosser and Liverpool really struggle defensively, so he could be very active up the pitch.

MIDFIELDER

Almen Abdi, WAT v. NOR ($3,100): Watford have been a heavy crossing team this season, but it's been tough getting those fantasy points from a single player. Abdi is the latest contributor, having sent in 13 in his last two games and adding seven shots over that span. For such a low price, he could hit value fairly easily.

Eden Hazard, CHE v. LIV ($5,700): Hazard has scored 64 fantasy points in the last three games, and with a price still below $6,000, he's likely to be heavily owned against a Liverpool side has allowed plenty of goals under manager Jurgen Klopp, despite posting a shutout this past weekend.

Wahbi Khazri, SUN at EVE ($5,600): After a two-game dry spell in the middle of last month, Khazri is back to being the versatile fantasy performer we saw earlier this year. He's sent in 22 crosses in the last three games and scored a goal last week against Chelsea. Up next: a match against Everton, who have allowed more goals at home than all but two teams this season.

James Milner, LIV at CHE ($6,800): Despite the high price, Milner has sent in at least 10 crosses in five consecutive starts, giving him a floor that's nearly unmatched on any slate, let alone one with only three games. Liverpool could rotate their squad given the condensed schedule, but if Milner starts, he's an easy play.

Sheyi Ojo, LIV at CHE ($3,800) or Jordon Ibe, LIV at CHE ($3,600): If Milner doesn't start, Ojo or Ibe could take over corners. They've alternated over the past few games they've started with each other, and while Philippe Coutinho ($6,200) could poach a few, his price makes him a tough play given his low floor.

FORWARD

Jermain Defoe, SUN at EVE ($5,600): Defoe has been remarkable during Sunderland's attempt to avoid relegation, scoring goals in three of the last four games. With a win clinching their spot in the Premier League for next season, it's time for Defoe to come up big once again.

Odion Ighalo, WAT v. NOR ($5,100): Those who want exposure to the Watford attack against Norwich will likely turn to Troy Deeney, who bagged a brace against Aston Villa two games ago. However, Deeney scored fewer than five fantasy points, including a minus-1, in four of the past five games. Ighalo has taken eight shots in the last two games, including plenty in the box, and he seems set up Wednesday to score his first league goal since Jan. 23. And while I don't put too much emphasis on these things, Ighalo scored against Norwich earlier this season, putting six of his seven shots on target.

Daniel Sturridge, LIV at CHE ($6,100: Liverpool's goal for their remaining two games this season is to make sure everyone is healthy for their Europa League final next Wednesday. Sturridge's fitness has been a concern all season, but he's playing very well and is a great fantasy option if he starts. He's scored a goal in four of his last five games, taking 29 shots over that span. The Chelsea defense is fully exploitable, and Sturridge is just the kind of player who can dominate the matchup.
