Week 8 Thursday Night Football is a clash between two teams fighting for a playoff spot in the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Chargers. The latest NFL Week 8 odds have the Chargers as 3-point favorites at most sportsbooks.

TJ Hockenson – Any Time TD (+230)
I'm fully expecting TJ Hockenson to find the end zone Thursday night. Despite having a top-10 defense this season, the Chargers have surrendered 4 TDs to opposing TEs through 7 weeks. Hockenson has scored just 1 TD with Wentz as QB, and rightfully should have had another last week (what was that call, anyway?). With a competitive game script expected, I'm feeling good about taking Hockenson to score a TD at +230 tonight.
Justin Herbert – Rushing Yards: OVER 17.5 (-112)
I'm surprised this line is coming in so low. Herbert has been using his legs often this season, recording at least 24 rushing yards in five of his seven starts, averaging 26.6 per game. Minnesota has been excellent limiting opposing QBs in the run game, surrendering the sixth-fewest rushing yards to the position. But a lot of that is due to matchup. Minnesota has only played two QBs that use consistently their legs, Caleb Williams and Jalen Hurts, and both of them are running way less than they did last year. I don't think they're as effective as the stats suggest there, making this market a real value.
Jordan Mason – Any Time Touchdown (+160)
The Chargers haven't been able to stop the run this season. They're a bottom-six team in run defense EPA, and they've allowed opponents to have a top-10 success rate on the ground as well. The return of Aaron Jones may muddle up this backfield a little bit, but I think that's why this line is so high. Even with Jones back, Mason should be this team's primary option in short-yardage situations and the red zone. When the Vikings get near the goal line, I think Mason is the best bet to close out the drive.

Justin Herbert – Pass Completions: OVER 24.5 (+100)
Herbert should be expected to throw the ball a ton with the lack of a running game for Los Angeles. Since Omarion Hampton went down with an ankle injury in Week 5, Herbert has completed 29 passes in Week 6 and 37 times in Week 7.
Now, the Chargers are severely lacking RB depth, with Hampton and Najee Harris both on IR and Hassan Haskins listed as doubtful. That leaves Kimani Vidal and just-signed Trayveon Williams to run the ball. I believe sportsbooks are baking in the Vikings defense, which hasn't allowed an opposing QB to complete more than 21 passes in a single game. However, the QBs that the Vikings have faced haven't been exactly elite - Caleb Williams, Michael Penix, Jake Browning, (aged) Aaron Rodgers, Dillon Gabriel, and Jalen Hurts.
With the questions at RB, I'm expecting the Chargers to move the ball through the air, so I'm liking Herbert to go over his completions line of 24.5.

Justin Jefferson – Receiving Yards: OVER 80.5 (-115)
Let's be real, Justin Jefferson is the top dawg when it comes to catching passes in Minnesota, regardless of who's throwing to him. In this case, Carson Wentz will be the guy targeting Jettas on TNF. Since Wentz has taken over the starting QB job, Jefferson has averaged nearly 7 receptions and 100 yards per game.
The Chargers have been pretty soft against opposing WR1s this season, allowing over 81 yards receiving in 5 out of 7 games this season. And with Jefferson being the unquestioned WR1 not only on the Vikings, but in the entire NFL, I'm riding with the over on his 80.5 receiving yards.

Keenan Allen – Receptions: OVER 5.5 (+110)
Keenan Allen is turning back the clock this season, and I think he'll keep it going in Week 8. The Chargers' offensive line has been brutal, as Herbert has been the most-pressured QB in the league this season. Facing a pass-rush with the league's third-best pressure rate, I'm expecting LA to lean into the quick game tonight. That should mean a lot of Keenan Allen. Allen is coming off an 11-catch game and is averaging 6.3 receptions per game on the year. I love getting plus money on this market.
