We're halfway through November with FanDuel offering 11 NHL games on Saturday starting at 7 p.m. EST or later. Here are my DFS lineup recommendations.
SLATE PREVIEW
There are three teams on the second day of a back-to-back. The Hurricanes and Blues are at home against the Maple Leafs and Golden Knights, respectively. Meanwhile, the Flyers will be on the road against the Stars.
GOALIES
Jake Oettinger, DAL vs. PHI ($8,000): I mentioned the Flyers are the only club on the road for the second straight night. They're also bottom-five in goals per game. Oettinger is having something of a down season with an .893 save percentage on the road and a .900 at home.
Cam Talbot, DET vs. BUF ($7,900): I'm speculating Talbot will be Saturday's starter. This is the first of a back-to-back for the Red Wings and John Gibson got banged up last time out. While he's healthy enough to play, why not save him for Sunday? For what it's worth, Talbot has posted a 2.43 GAA at home this year and will be facing a Sabres side averaging 2.65 goals.
Yaroslav Askarov, SAN at SEA ($7,000): Remember when Askarov was considered one of the best goaltending prospects? Well, he's registered a 1.19 GAA and .965 save percentage over his last five starts. The Kraken have averaged 2.65 goals and a woeful 24.6 shots per outing, which means Askarov should be able to remain hot.
VALUE PLAYS
Jason Robertson, DAL vs. PHI ($6,700): Robertson didn't reach 40 goals in either of the last two seasons after previously doing that twice, so one may forget he produced exactly 80 points during each of those campaigns. He's currently at 20 points, and that's with a 7.9 shooting percentage. The Flyers are away for a second consecutive day while Dan Vladar holds a .919 save percentage, yet he came into this season with a career .894.
Tomas Hertl, VGK at STL ($6,600): Hertl has seven goals and six helpers while finding the back of the net in each of his last two matchups with 17 shots across the last three. The Blues have been average in terms of allowing shots, but they're bottom-three in GAA and will be closing out a back-to-back on Saturday.
Jack Roslovic, EDM at CAR ($6,000): Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is out. Zach Hyman is still sidelined. Who's left standing to help Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl out? Why, Roslovic, of course! He's produced has five goals and six assists from him last 10 games. Carolina's usually elite on defense, though they're hovering around the top-10 in GAA and shots allowed instead of being entrenched in the top-5. And, as noted, they played on Friday.
FORWARD LINE STACKS
Red Wings vs. Sabres
Dylan Larkin (C - $7,300), Alex DeBrincat (W - $7,300), Lucas Raymond (W - $6,200)
As a Wings fan, I definitely want to see an uptick in secondary scoring - though these three are handling their business. The Sabres aren't really doing that with a 3.53 GAA while giving up 31.9 shots per game. And that could get worse as Alex Lyon has an .888 save percentage during his last seven outings.
Larkin is primed for his fifth straight 30-goal season as he's already at 10 on 55 shots to go with 11 assists. DeBrincat experienced bad puck luck early on, yet has still managed 18 points. And while he's potted six goals in his last nine, he still claims an 8.8 shooting percentage overall. Raymond needs to shoot more with four goals through 15 matchups with a decent 13.3 shooting percentage. He's also racked up 11 assists, with three of those coming in the last two games.
Kings at Senators
Quinton Byfield (C- $5,600), Kevin Fiala (W - $5,800), Alex Laferriere (W - $4,800)
The Kings don't feature a line with three participants on the top power play. But thanks to a five-forward strategy, they can claim two trios with two. I've opted for the second unit as they've been hot. I was focused on man-advantage minutes as the Sens are bottom-5 in GAA and penalty-kill percentage.
Byfield has averaged 3:01 with the extra man and five points there. He's also registered a goal and assist in each of his last two games. Fiala has reached at least 24 PPPs from each of his previous three seasons in LA and has so far posted six to go with 60 shots. Laferriere is on the the second power play and started slow, but has turned it around by going off for nine points and 27 shots through his last 12 outings while riding a three-game scoring streak.
DEFENSEMEN
Charlie McAvoy, BOS at MON ($5,800): McAvoy doesn't have a goal this season, but that's pretty unlucky considering his 25 shots while that 0.0 shooting percentage won't last all season. But more importantly, he's recorded 14 assists. While McAvoy is more likely to grab a helper than light the lamp, he's in a favorable position on Saturday as Montreal is set to start Sam Montembeault with his career 3.23 GAA and .897 save percentage.
Shea Theodore, VGK at STL ($5,700): Theodore has been playing great hockey even though he hasn't always shown up on the scoresheet. That being said, he's notched five assists during his last 10 games and just got his first goal. Theodore has also averaged 24:08 while directing 35 pucks on net and blocking 30. The Blues will be hard-pressed to get out of the bottom-5 in GAA while playing their second game in as many days.
John Klingberg, SAN at SEA ($5,200): San Jose is still waiting for their defensemen of the future to arrive, so Klingberg has grabbed a sizable role having averaged 21:03 - including 3:33 on the power play. Seattle maintains a bottom-five penalty kill while Joey Daccord is injured, leaving Philipp Grubauer or Matt Murray as the possible netminding options.
