Last Week's Tournament of Champions

At the 2012 PGA Tour season opener, Steve Stricker notched his 12th career title and his ninth win since turning 40. Vijay Singh now has company in that category.

Going 10-under at the Tournament of Champions in Kapalua's second round put Stricker in the driver's seat. He sparkled in racking up an aggregate 26 birdies along with an eagle that buried the three bogeys and an erstwhile lone double bogey. Stricker came to Hawaii geared up with early season strength in GIR, putts-per-GIR and total putting while some of the other players looked as if they hadn't yet swept out the cobwebs.

Webb Simpson's solid third place 68-68-69-68 was edged out of second when Martin Laird birdied the 72nd hole. Rounds three and four played easier than the first two rounds.

Early season wins gives an opportunity for a players to have multiple wins. Check out last year's top finishers in the upcoming West coast swing for some possible opportunists who have course experience.
