TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP

First glances of the stats comparison of Bill Haas and Hunter Mahan might give wonder as to how come Mahan only wound up with a tie. Without delving deeply into what happened, Haas out-putted Mahan when it counted.

Haas, playing ahead of Mahan, birdied the tough sixth while Mahan bogied - a two-shot swing. Mahan couldn't get a birdie to drop the rest of the front nine. At the par-5 ninth he parred, again missing a birdie.

Mahan bogied the 13th, Haas birdied. Another two-stroke swing. Mahan wound up with one birdie and two bogeys closing with a 1-over 71 while Haas shot a 2-under 68.

Haas' pressure-packed miracle shot out of the water at the 17 in the playoff had to have a negative impact on Mahan that carried over to Mahan's missed putt at the closing hole.
