Tournament Preview

The 2019 season begins this week with Hong Kong Open at Hong Kong Golf Club. The tree-lined course consists of tight fairways and small, fast greens, protected by bunkers. Water is present on only a few holes, but there are many ditches throughout the course. Accuracy will be at a premium this week. Recent form will weigh heavily, along with course history.

DraftKings Picks

Rafael Cabrera-Bello $10,500 (8/1)

Cabrera-Bello has played great at this event. He finished T2 last year and solo second the year before. He comes to Hong Kong in form, following a T18 last week at DP World Tour Championship. The Spaniard finished T14 prior to that at WGC-HSBC. Cabrera-Bello has the skill set needed to succeed at Hong Kong GC, he is ranked 17th in SG: tee to green and second in putts per round.

Wade Ormsby $9,100 (40/1)

I really like Ormsby in the title defense this week. He has been trending nicely and it seems to be perfect timing for him to strike again. Ormsby is one of the most accurate drivers of the golf ball on tour, and his game obviously fits Hong Kong GC. He is ranked 32nd in SG: tee to green and 58th in putts per round. Defending this week should not be a distraction for the Aussie, and he will have another memorable Hong Kong Open.

Marcus Kinhult $8,800 (45/1)

Kinhult finished last season strong, with 11 made cuts in a row and was T22 at DP World Tour Championship. He has been close a few times and it feels like that first win is coming this season. His game is well rounded and should fit nicely this week. He played Hong Kong Open last year and finished T27. The young golfer from Sweden is ranked 68th in driving accuracy and 71st in putts per green.

Clement Sordet $7,200 (100/1)

Sordet began last season with a T10 at Hong Kong Open, which is great, when deciding from the lower-price tier. The rest of his season, though, was more down than up, until the end. Sordet finished last season with four made cuts, reaching as high as T16 at Sky Sports British Masters. Perhaps he can keep it going this week at a place he has enjoyed success. Sordet is ranked 91st in driving accuracy and 100th in putts per round.
