Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Carter's first full season in Arizona didn't amount to much. Working behind James Conner, Trey Benson and Emari Demercado, Carter spent most of the campaign on the practice squad, eventually seeing action in the final three games on the Cardinals' schedule as injuries piled up in the backfield. He produced some inefficient volume on the ground but caught multiple passes in all three contests, highlighting his primary skill set. Arizona brings back the same cast of RBs in 2025, and Carter could once again be the odd man out most weeks when everyone is healthy. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Minimal production in season finale
Carter rushed seven times for 18 yards, adding three catches for 21 yards in Sunday's 37-20 loss to the Rams. He finished the season with 92 rushes for 333 yards and one touchdown, adding 33 receptions for 267 yards on 45 targets.
ANALYSIS
Despite an uneven 2025 campaign, Carter finished the season as the team leader in carries, rushing yards, targets, receptions and receiving yards. The 26-year-old was forced into a bigger role in the backfield when teammates James Conner (foot) and Trey Benson (knee) were lost early in the season. Alongside Emari Demercado and Bam Knight, Carter handled backfield duties for a significant part of the season, allowing him to show off his abilities ahead of the 2026 offseason, in which he will become an unrestricted free agent. Though it is unclear if he'll be back with Arizona, the North Carolina product has likely done enough to garner interest from teams around the NFL as a versatile rotational player out of the backfield.

Claimed off waivers from the Jets last season, Carter made a surprising impact behind James Conner, scoring his first career receiving touchdown and averaging an eye-popping 6.8 yards per carry. Much of that production came in Week 17 against a reeling Eagles defense, however, and his ability to repeat those numbers on bigger volume is suspect given his limited athletic profile. Carter's spot on the depth chart is also in jeopardy after the Cardinals drafted Trey Benson in the third round. Carter will compete with Emari Demercado for snaps behind the team's current and future lead backs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Back atop backfield depth chart
Carter is likely to work as Arizona's lead back down the stretch, as Zach Gershman of the team's official site reports that Bam Knight was placed on injured reserve Tuesday due to an ankle injury.
ANALYSIS
Knight is the third Cardinals running back to go from a starting role to injured reserve this season, joining James Conner and Trey Benson, who are sidelined for the remainder of the season due to their respective foot and knee injuries. Carter racked up 18 touches after Knight got hurt early in a Week 15 loss to Houston. The Cardinals also have Emari Demercado and Corey Kiner on the roster, but the 175-pound Demercado is best suited for a change-of-pace role and Kiner has only two career regular-season carries at the NFL level.
