Kimani Vidal

24-Year-Old Running BackRB
Los Angeles Chargers
2025 Fantasy Outlook
During his rookie campaign last year, Vidal logged 43 carries for 155 yards while adding five catches for 62 yards and a TD in 10 regular-season games, while working in a backfield that also included J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. Ahead of Week 1 this time around, the 2024 sixth-rounder figures to compete with Hassan Haskins for depth slotting behind newcomers Najee Harris and Omarion Hampton, with Vidal's case for a roster spot/role in 2025 possibly hinging on him demonstrating that he can be a factor in the Chargers' passing game. RBLos Angeles Chargers
January 11, 2026
Vidal handled 11 carries for 31 yards while catching two of three targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 16-3 wild-card loss to New England.
ANALYSIS
Vidal got the surprise start in Sunday's playoff loss despite RB Omarion Hampton being available after resting in Week 18. The latter must have suffered a setback to his injured ankle after losing a yard on his only carry. Vidal couldn't take advantage of the opportunity like he did during the regular season when he posted a 155-643-3 rushing line while Hampton was mending on IR. The 23-year-old Vidal will be an exclusive rights free agent this upcoming offseason, meaning that the Chargers can tender a one-year contract to keep him in the organization. That seems like a likely scenario given the second-year rusher's success playing both behind and alongside Hampton this year.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
A 2024 sixth-round pick, Vidal joins a Chargers backfield with minimal experience beyond ex-Ravens Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins. The rookie out of Troy has traits that should appeal to new Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman, as Vidal was tough to bring down in college and took 297 carries for 1,661 yards and 14 TDs last season alone. He's not especially elusive, but he showed potential in the passing game with at least 18 receptions in each of his four seasons at Troy, and he earned praise from both coaches and scouts for his pass blocking. Vidal's combination of bulk (5-8, 213) and speed (4.46 40) makes him far more interesting for fantasy than a typical sixth-round pick, especially within the context of a Chargers offense that's looking to run the ball more often despite having a shaky group of veteran RBs.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Hampton planning on playing
RBLos Angeles Chargers
January 9, 2026
Vidal appears likely to share the Chargers backfield with Omarion Hampton during Sunday night's wild-card matchup against the Patriots, as the latter is planning on playing through his ankle injury, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hampton was able to get back on the practice field Friday, albeit on a limited basis, for the first time since Week 17 prep. However, Rhim reports that even if Hampton does suit up, Vidal will still see meaningful snaps, and he'd naturally step into the lead role should his rookie teammate suffer any in-game setback.
