2022 Fantasy Outlook
Vidal carried a heavy load for the Trojans last season, averaging 5.1 yards per carry over his first seven games, before tapering off down the stretch. It should be more of the same for the Marietta, Ga. native this season, as he is by far and away the best candidate for RB1 status at Troy. With first year head coach Jon Sumrall taking the reins after Chip Lindsey was let go at the end of 2021, Vidal could see an uptick in workload as Sumrall (a defensive coach at heart) works out what he wants to do in the passing game. Vidal didn’t have a chance last season to strut his stuff against an SEC defense, as he missed the Trojans’ Oct. 2 game against South Carolina with an undisclosed injury. A Week 1 date with Ole Miss to start 2022 off should give some indication of if Vidal could potentially make the jump to top tier status.
