2025 Fantasy Outlook
After inking a three-year, $12 million deal with the Falcons last offseason, Woerner had seven catches on 12 targets for 46 yards in his first campaign with the team. His playing time increased following a Week 12 bye in 2024, but he still was a backup to Kyle Pitts, who saw far more targets (74). Blocking prowess and special-teams versatility will get Woerner on the field often, but he won't produce like a starting TE, especially in fantasy. The five-year veteran is still looking for his first career TD. Read Past Outlooks
Goes backward with lone reception
Woerner (ankle) caught his only target for minus-5 yards during Sunday's 30-0 loss to the Panthers.
ANALYSIS
After not practicing Wednesday or Thursday due to an ankle injury, Woerner returned as a full participant Friday and played his usual role Sunday. He's known for his blocking prowess and will see plenty of offensive snaps every week, but his offensive production is rare. He set a career high with seven receptions in 16 regular-season games last season, and he's never had more than 52 receiving yards in a season.

After releasing Jonnu Smith this offseason to create cap space, the Falcons signed Woerner, who's primarily a blocking tight end, and Ross Dwelley to compete for backup snaps with John FitzPatrick. Woerner saw only three targets across 303 offensive snaps with the 49ers in 2023, and with Arthur Smith gone, the Falcons aren't expected to play as many sets with multiple tight ends as they did in previous campaigns. Given his blocking prowess and special-teams experience, Woerner has a path to making the initial 53-man roster but shouldn't be counted on for offensive production.
