The final week of the regular season is upon us, featuring a wide range of NFL Week 18 odds and potential for a losing team to win the NFC South – again.

So, one last time in the regular season, RotoWire used ChatGPT to predict the results to be for each NFL Week 18 game. We asked the AI tool to simulate each matchup 10 times, with scores, using rosters and available injury information as of Dec. 30. Then we averaged the margin of victory for each matchup. RotoWire.com, as part of our NFL betting insight, got these simulated results:

Which Week 18 Games Are Too Close To Call?

ChatGPT projects two games to be tied at 5-5 after 10 simulated run-throughs. One is the AFC West clash with the Denver Broncos hosting the Los Angeles Chargers. The division champion Broncos can clinch the No. 1 seed for the playoffs, but the Chargers are merely playing for seeding.

The other game projected as a split features one of the wackiest scenarios in recent times, brought to us by the worst division in football over the past few years.

The Panthers can complete their Cinderella season and win the NFC South for the first time since 2015. Carolina and quarterback Bryce Young (above) have developed together this season and have already won eight games, the most for the franchise since that 2015 season, when the team went 15-1 and reached the Super Bowl.

Now the Panthers just need to beat or tie the reeling Buccaneers on Saturday (4:30 p.m. Eastern) at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa to wrap up the division crown. Caesars Sportsbook has Carolina as a 3-point underdog in this winner-take-all matchup.

For the Buccaneers, trying to capture the division for the fifth year running, Week 18 is not so simple.

The Bucs have lost seven out of eight after a 6-2 start and now not only must defeat their visitors, but they also need the New Orleans Saints to knock off the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Yes, a game in which both teams are eliminated from the playoffs might determine the NFC South's lone playoff representative. That's a classic move from a division which has produced just one 10-game winner in the past four years including this season (the 2024 Bucs at 10-7) and one division champ with a losing record (the 2022 Bucs at 8-9). This is a division that has not produced a wild-card team since 2020.

The Falcons are a 3-point favorite at BetMGM Sportsbook as of Dec. 30 to ruin the Bucs' chances even if Tampa Bay wins the day before. Victories by Atlanta and Tampa Bay would produce a three-way tie for first place at 8-9 and Carolina would win the division via tiebreaker in that scenario.

Are There Any Other Projected Close Games In Week 18?

Baltimore has a projected 6-4 edge against the Steelers in Pittsburgh (8:20 p.m. Sunday), with the winner clinching the AFC North and the loser staying home for the postseason.

The Ravens have had an odd campaign – a 1-5 start, then a five-game winning streak, then a 1-3 stretch followed by last week's upset road win at Green Bay – but have stayed alive.

That's because the Steelers squandered a chance to clinch the division by losing on Sunday to the Browns in Cleveland. At DraftKings Sportsbook, Baltimore is a 3.5-point favorite for the 272nd and final game of the NFL regular season.

The other 6-4 projection is the Patriots over the Dolphins as New England aims for the AFC's top seed; coach Mike Vrabel's team needs a win and a Denver loss to secure the No. 1 spot and a first-round bye.

Week 18 NFL AI Projections Q&A

Q: How did ChatGPT simulate NFL Week 18 games?

A: RotoWire ran 10 simulations for every Week 18 matchup using ChatGPT, with rosters updated as of Dec. 30, 2025. Each game produced projected scores, a winner, and a calculated average margin of victory (MOV). This allowed us to compare not only who wins most often but also how decisively they win.

Q: Which teams dominated the ChatGPT simulations?

A: The Jacksonville Jaguars will dominate the Tennessee Titans, according to ChatGPT simulations, with the AI tool projecting the Jaguars to win each simulation. With the second most dominant simulated results, the Philadelphia Eagles are projected to beat out the Washington Commanders 9-1 for this week's matchup.

Q: What were the closest or most balanced matchups in the simulations?

A: For this week, ChatGPT is projecting two tied matchups. These toss-ups are the Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Chargers at Denver Broncos.
