Here are some of the top fantasy football headlines from Thursday.
-Tyreek Hill is missing practice with what's described as a minor hamstring strain, with NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reporting that the injury is "no great concern." Missed reps for Hill should go disproportionately to the benefit of Mecole Hardman, who could at the very least claim some of the snaps and targets that went to Demarcus Robinson in 2019. Sammy Watkins (groin) has missed recent practices as well, so it's a chance for Hardman to show what he can do under the spotlight.
-ESPN's Nick Wagoner reports Kendrick Bourne has "probably been the [49ers'] most consistent [receiver] in camp so far." Perhaps he'll pick up extra slack however long Deebo Samuel (foot) is out or limited, though coach Kyle Shanahan is still "hopeful" Samuel will be ready for Week 1. Bourne offers experience both in the slot and outside as he heads into his fourth year in the Shanahan system, so Bourne might be Shanahan's most reliable option to replace Samuel's snaps in a compromised offseason. While he doesn't generate much separation and is probably average after the catch at best, Bourne stands out for his acrobatic ability and ball skills among the 49ers receivers, which makes him project best in the red zone among San Francisco wideouts. With rookie first-round pick Brandon Aiyuk more or less playing the role previously played by Emmanuel Sanders, Trent Taylor is otherwise still likely to function as the lead slot receiver for San Francisco in three-wide sets.
-According to The Athletic beat writers Joe Buscaglia and Matthew Fairburn, Thursday was a rough day for Devin Singletary, which generally went to the benefit of rookie third-round pick Zack Moss. Singletary notably fumbled once, which quietly was a bit of a problem in his otherwise impressive rookie season (four fumbles on 180 touches from scrimmage). Moss was highly productive at Utah, including as a pass catcher, and he's reportedly carrying that momentum into training camp so far.
-Promising Denver rookie second-round pick KJ Hamler will miss "a couple weeks" with a hamstring injury according to NFL Network's James Palmer, depriving the Denver offense of its main speed threat in the meantime. Free agent pickup Melvin Gordon is also missing practice, with an unspecified but evidently minor rib issue.
-NBC Boston's Phil Perry reports that Damien Harris has done well as a pass catcher thus far in New England training camp, all of which is occurring with Sony Michel (foot) and Lamar Miller (knee) sidelined. As much as there won't be any renegotiating the pass-catching specialist role held by James White, Harris could secure targets at the expense of Rex Burkhead, who previously functioned somewhere between White's pass-catching role and the run-specialist role held by Michel previously. A third-round pick out of Alabama in 2019, Harris actually started ahead of Josh Jacobs at Alabama and was successful doing so, including as a receiver.
