Thursday Night Observations

Will Fuller's return was a nice boost for Deshaun Watson and the Texans, though the Colts still covered the spread.
Thursday Night Observations

I had the Colts plus four and started Will Fuller in my best NFFC league, so it could have been a lot worse. But I also have the Colts at 2:1 to win the AFC South, Duke Johnson in one deep league and I won't know until the afternoon games (typically when I check my opponents' teams) whether I'm facing DeAndre Hopkins anywhere.

Jacoby Brissett didn't play as badly as the numbers -- he suffered from a few drops by T.Y. Hilton and Nyheim Hines, and he wasn't asked to do much. He's probably better-suited for backup work, as most competent caretakers are.

Jonathan Williams had a huge role -- 26 carries and three targets -- and passed the eye test. Marlon Mack could be back as early as Week 13, but if he isn't, Williams is clearly the workhorse, even though Hines ran well as a change of pace.

None of the Colts receivers did much, including Hilton who had a couple drops. At least he didn't aggravate his calf injury and should see more snaps 10 days from now.

Deshaun Watson converted a few big third-downs by scrambling and buying time. He also benefitted from the return of Fuller and a blown coverage on Hopkins.

Carlos Hyde is the early-down workhorse, but he never catches passes in this offense. Duke Johnson always looks good, but he's so rarely used.

Fuller looked healthy and showed good focus on the deep balls. Hopkins got one gift TD and also made a nice play on his second score. And no one has been eye-hand-foot coordination than Hopkins on the sidelines. Kenny Stills was a non-factor.
