NFL Picks: Backing the Jaguars, Eagles and Browns

NFL Picks: Backing the Jaguars, Eagles and Browns

This article is part of our NFL Picks series.

A poor week for the staff as no one finished above .500, and we lost our only consensus pick - the Jaguars. This week we have three more consensus picks, including Jacksonville, of course. For some reason no one can resist buying them low, and it doesn't matter how bad they are. Other consensus picks are similarly ugly - the Eagles and Browns.

It's worth noting both Pianowski and Erickson took the Bills are their best bets.

EricksonForced to do the right thing with C.J. Spiller, the Bills will ride him into a touchdown-or-better win... Happy to take the hook with the Eagles... Same with the Lions... Jaguars have had the two biggest lines of the season. Covered last time. Seem to be better on the road, for whatever that's worth.
PianowskiI'll cling to the idea that Buffalo still has some semblance of home-field edge, and a Thursday home game also offers a slight bonus advantage (in theory - no soup for you, Jacksonville).
LissLike the home dogs this week - especially Carolina who I see as a rough equal to Tampa Bay. Also like the Chiefs and Raiders.
StopaThat bubble will burst for the Colts on Sunday. I listed out the stats in Working the Wire - they're a fraud, a bottom-dweller masquerading as a playoff contender. Even the public is duped, as the majority is on Indy, which you never see with a dog this big, especially against NE. The Pats were lucky to escape last week, so let's buy low and enjoy the blowout... I'm picking like a square with Bengals and Saints (and might be solo on both games), but a three point loss in Pitt might be selling the Chiefs high. The Saints know they have no margin for error, and if the Raiders were that good of a pick, the sharps would have held the line at 3... Vegas doesn't treat many injuries as line-movers, but the downgrade from Ben to Leftwich certainly qualifies as one, and I don't think home field means much in a rivalry like Balt/Pitt.
Del Don Making a 1-8 team my best bet is about as ugly as it gets, so it's safe to say one game didn't jump out at me this week. However, despite that, I feel better about the overall slate than I have the past couple of weeks, for whatever that's worth.
