Sunday Update Complete

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the fantasy football rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Should I start Patrick Mahomes or Bryce Young?"

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Each week after Week 1, the first set of rankings will be posted late on Tuesday night. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning.

When setting your lineups, make sure to refer to the NFL inactives to ensure all of your players are set to receive snaps.

I welcome debate on the rankings in

Quarterbacks

1.Lamar Jackson BAL vs. DET
2.*Josh Allen BUF vs. MIA
Note: Allen had a brief concussion scare in the second quarter but later returned. Because the game was such a blowout, he sat out most of the fourth quarter.
3.*Jalen Hurts PHI vs. LAR
Note: The downfield passing game is a problem, but that running floor is so so nice.
4.*Patrick Mahomes KC at NYG
Note: Mahomes salvaged his fantasy day with his scrambling, running for 66 yards and a touchdown. But this is once again a toothless offense.
5.Baker Mayfield TB vs. NYJ
6.Dak Prescott DAL at CHI
7.*Justin Herbert LAC vs. DEN
Note: Herbert was charged with the fumble when he and Omarion Hampton couldn't connect on a handoff. Otherwise he had a nearly perfect night again.
8.Jared Goff DET at BAL
9.Caleb Williams CHI vs. DAL
10.*Daniel Jones IND at TEN
Note: Jones kept rolling against the Broncos, and is averaging 9.3 yards per pass attempt, and has three rushing touchdowns already. He's still only 18 percent rostered in Yahoo leagues, as of Tuesday; he probably needs to be rostered in most leagues.
11.Jordan Love GB at CLE
12.*Michael Penix ATL at CAR
Note: Upon further review I moved Penix down a little bit - in part because Atlanta will be running more against Carolina.
13.*Kyler Murray ARZ at SF
Note: Murray was solid early, terrible late, throwing an interception at the end of a 70-yard drive, and did nothing afterwards, allowing Carolina back in the game.
14.*Bo Nix DEN at LAC
Note: Nix was better this week, but still struggled in the second half and threw a key interception.
15.Drake Maye NE vs. PIT
16.Trevor Lawrence JAC vs. HOU
17.Sam Darnold SEA vs. NO
18.Russell Wilson NYG vs. KC
19.C.J. Stroud HOU at JAX
20.*Carson Wentz MIN vs. CIN
Note: Wentz will fill in for J.J. McCarthy (ankle) at least this week, and perhaps multiple weeks. ***Wentz is facing a Bengals secondary that's banged up, and will be missing CB Cam Taylor-Britt.***
21.*Geno Smith LV at WAS
Note: I still think Geno is a good quarterback, but this was a rough game on Monday night.
22.*Jake Browning CIN at MIN
Note: You saw the good and the bad with Browning in the win over the Jaguars - he'll force some bad throws, especially under pressure, but he'll also keep firing and make some big plays. We'll get to see that for perhaps three months with Joe Burrow out. Brett Rypien was activated from the practice squad to be Browning's backup.
23.Matthew Stafford LA at PHI
24.*Marcus Mariota WAS vs. LV
Note: Mariota would start for the Commanders if Jayden Daniels (knee) can't go this week. Daniels did not practice Wednesday and won't practice until Friday. ***Mariota will get the start, with Daniels officially ruled out.***
25.Tua Tagovailoa MIA at BUF
26.*Bryce Young CAR vs. ATL
Note: Young had two immediate turnovers to set the tone for the game, and ultimately he couldn't do enough in the fourth quarter to come all the way back. He managed a whopping 55 attempts. Now he has to deal with two offensive linemen out.
27.*Mac Jones SF vs. ARI
Note: There's a chance that Brock Purdy might play after all. Purdy (toe) had a limited practice Wednesday and was out there again on Thursday. ***Jones will get another start this week after all, but Purdy could return for Week 4.***
28.Aaron Rodgers PIT at NE
29.Cam Ward TEN vs. IND
30.*Tyrod Taylor NYJ at TB
Note: Taylor led the Jets to a touchdown in garbage time after Justin Fields left with a concussion. Taylor will start after Fields got ruled out early in the week. ***Brady Cook will be Taylor's backup this week.***
31.Joe Flacco CLE vs. GB
32.Spencer Rattler NO at SEA
33.*Jayden Daniels WAS vs. LV
Note: Daniels is day-to-day with a knee injury suffered on Thursday night against the Packers. There are some differing reports on the nature of the injury - originally called a sprain. Daniels didn't practice Wednesday and won't practice until Friday at the earliest. ***Didn't practice Friday, either, and was officially ruled out.***
34.*Brock Purdy SF vs. ARI
Note: Purdy (toe) is unlikely to play this week, and it doesn't help his chances of playing that the Niners banked another win against the Saints and Mac Jones played credibly. I may have been wrong about this - Purdy participated in a limited practice Wednesday and practiced Thursday. ***The Niners got our hopes up, but Purdy is unlikely to play this week, but could return for Week 4.***
35.*Justin Fields NYJ at TB
Note: In the concussion protocol. Tyrod Taylor would start if Fields can't get cleared in time. Fields was ruled out quickly - on Wednesday.
36.*J.J. McCarthy MIN vs. CIN
Note: McCarthy is week-to-week with a high ankle sprain - there have been some estimates putting him out 2-to-4 weeks. Keep in mind that the Vikings go overseas for two games after this home against Cincy in Week 3, and then after the two international games they have their bye in Week 6.
37.*Joe Burrow CIN at MIN
Note: Burrow has a Grade 3 ligament tear in his toe that will require surgery and likely keep him out at least three months. Another wasted year, fueled in part because the Bengals didn't invest enough in their offensive line.

Running Backs

1.Bijan Robinson ATL at CAR
2.Christian McCaffrey SF vs. ARI
3.Derrick Henry BAL vs. DET
4.Saquon Barkley PHI vs. LAR
5.James Cook BUF vs. MIA
6.Jonathan Taylor IND at TEN
7.Jahmyr Gibbs DET at BAL
8.*Bucky Irving TB vs. NYJ
Note: Irving had four catches for 39 yards on the Bucs' game-winning drive, and ended up with a combined 121 yards for the game.
9.*Josh Jacobs GB at CLE
Note: Jacobs (ankle) was limited in Thursday's practice. ***Jacobs was cleared from the injury list on Friday. I gave him a mild downgrade due to the opponent.***
10.*Jordan Mason MIN vs. CIN
Note: Mason steps up into a big role with Aaron Jones (hamstring) out, and draws a great matchup against the Bengals.
11.De'Von Achane MIA at BUF
12.Chuba Hubbard CAR vs. ATL
13.Travis Etienne JAC vs. HOU
14.Alvin Kamara NO at SEA
15.*Kenneth Walker SEA vs. NO
Note: ***Walker will likely see a higher percentage snap share with Zach Charbonnet (foot) listed as doubtful.***
16.Chase Brown CIN at MIN
17.Kyren Williams LA at PHI
18.*Rhamondre Stevenson NE vs. PIT
Note: Stevenson was the primary back against Miami and looked great in the process, with 11 carries for 54 yards and five catches for 88 yards.
19.Ashton Jeanty LV at WAS
20.Breece Hall NYJ at TB
21.Jaylen Warren PIT at NE
22.*D'Andre Swift CHI vs. DAL
Note: Swift lost a fumble in the first quarter in the loss to the Lions. He split snaps with Kyle Monangai over the rest of the game, though the entirety of the fourth quarter was a blowout. Swift (quad) has had two limited practices so far this week. ***Swift was still limited Friday and is listed as questionable, but he's expected to play.***
23.James Conner ARZ at SF
24.Javonte Williams DAL at CHI
25.J.K. Dobbins DEN at LAC
26.David Montgomery DET at BAL
27.Tony Pollard TEN vs. IND
28.*Omarion Hampton LAC vs. DEN
Note: I wouldn't be surprised if Hampton's role in the Chargers' late fumble leads to less work in the future, perhaps even him ceding goal line carries to Najee Harris.
29.*Quinshon Judkins CLE vs. GB
Note: Judkins played 19 offensive snaps in his debut, and got 13 touches (10 carries and three receptions) on those snaps. He's going to approach bell-cow status quickly. ***Judkins might not get a full slate of snaps, but he'll start and will likely carry a heavier load than last week.***
30.*TreVeyon Henderson NE vs. PIT
Note: Henderson saw fewer touches than both Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson, in part due to his struggles in pass protection. He did have two good receptions on the day showing his talent.
31.Nick Chubb HOU at JAX
32.*Jacory Croskey-Merritt WAS vs. LV
Note: Croskey-Merritt's role will increase with Austin Ekeler (Achilles) out, but I don't think he'll be very involved in passing downs.
33.*Cam Skattebo NYG vs. KC
Note: Skattebo took over the majority of snaps late in the loss to the Cowboys and might be the primary runner at the goal line.
34.Tyler Allgeier ATL at CAR
35.Dylan Sampson CLE vs. GB
36.Kareem Hunt KC at NYG
37.*Bhayshul Tuten JAC vs. HOU
Note: Tuten is clearly the backup behind Etienne, but he looked great in limited duty and will have at least that role going forward most likely. Tuten (shoulder) had back-to-back limited practices to start the week. ***Tuten was cleared from the injury list on Friday.***
38.*Rachaad White TB vs. NYJ
Note: White played a big role in the Bucs' win on Monday night, scoring the game-winning touchdown and running for 65 yards, plus he also recovered a Baker Mayfield fumble to keep the Bucs' hopes alive in the fourth quarter.
39.Isiah Pacheco KC at NYG
40.RJ Harvey DEN at LAC
41.*Tyrone Tracy NYG vs. KC
Note: Tracy had just five carries, compared to 11 for Cam Skattebo. Tracy (chest) has been limited in practice. ***Cleared from the injury list.***
42.Brian Robinson SF vs. ARI
43.*Najee Harris LAC vs. DEN
Note: Harris's usage increased from 18 to 34 percent in Week 2.
44.Trey Benson ARZ at SF
45.*Woody Marks HOU at JAX
Note: The Texans did some streamlining with their backfield, making Dameon Pierce inactive on Monday night, and Marks got more work as a result.
46.Ray Davis BUF vs. MIA
47.Ollie Gordon MIA at BUF
48.*Jeremy McNichols WAS vs. LV
Note: McNichols (hamstring) was a full participant in Thursday's practice. He might assume some of the pass-catching duties that Austin Ekeler (Achilles tendon) had.
49.Jerome Ford CLE vs. GB
50.Miles Sanders DAL at CHI
51.Rico Dowdle CAR vs. ATL
52.Kenneth Gainwell PIT at NE
53.Kyle Monangai CHI vs. DAL
54.*Blake Corum LA at PHI
Note: Corum logged a 30.5 percent snap share, so not all of his work was mop-up duty.
55.Braelon Allen NYJ at TB
56.Justice Hill BAL vs. DET
57.Kendre Miller NO at SEA
58.Samaje Perine CIN at MIN
59.Ty Johnson BUF vs. MIA
60.Devin Singletary NYG vs. KC
61.Roschon Johnson CHI vs. DAL
62.Julius Chestnut TEN vs. IND
63.*Chris Rodriguez WAS vs. LV
Note: Rodriguez was a healthy scratch the first two weeks, but I presume he'll be active this week with Austin Ekeler out for the season.
64.DJ Giddens IND at TEN
65.Tahj Brooks CIN at MIN
66.Zamir White LV at WAS
67.AJ Dillon PHI vs. LAR
68.Chris Brooks GB at CLE
69.*Tank Bigsby PHI vs. LAR
Note: Bigsby didn't take any offensive snaps in the Eagles' win over the Chiefs, even with Will Shipley (oblique) inactive.
70.*Kaleb Johnson PIT at NE
Note: Johnson's blunder on the kickoff was a huge swing play in the Steelers' loss to the Seahawks. He's unlikely to return kicks this week.
71.Emanuel Wilson GB at CLE
72.LeQuint Allen JAC vs. HOU
73.*Zavier Scott MIN vs. CIN
Note: Scott is the current backup to Jordan Mason, but the Vikings also signed Cam Akers to their practice squad, and Akers was with the Vikings last season.
74.*George Holani SEA vs. NO
Note: ***Holani will serve as Kenneth Walker's backup with Zach Charbonnet listed as doubtful.***
75.Isaiah Davis NYJ at TB
76.Dare Ogunbowale HOU at JAX
77.Devin Neal NO at SEA
78.Sean Tucker TB vs. NYJ
79.*Jaylen Wright MIA at BUF
Note: Wright (knee) was estimated as limited on Monday. Wright was cleared from the injury list, but where does he stand on the Dolphins' depth chart?
80.*Cam Akers MIN vs. CIN
Note: ***Akers was signed this week in reaction to the Aaron Jones hamstring injury, and was promoted from the practice squad.***
81.*Zach Charbonnet SEA vs. NO
Note: Charbonnet did not practice Wednesday due to a foot issue. Kenneth Walker was the better back in Week 2, after Charbonnet was better in Week 1. ***Charbonnet is doubtful with the foot injury.***
82.*Will Shipley PHI vs. LAR
Note: Shipley (oblique) did not practice Wednesday. ***Ruled out again this week.***
83.Keaton Mitchell BAL vs. DET
84.Jaydon Blue DAL at CHI
85.*Aaron Jones MIN vs. CIN
Note: Jones suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to the Falcons and is likely headed to IR, and thus will miss at least four games.
86.Austin Ekeler WAS vs. LV

3.Amon-Ra St. Brown DET at BAL
4.Malik Nabers NYG vs. KC

7.Justin Jefferson MIN vs. CIN
8.Nico Collins HOU at JAX
9.Garrett Wilson NYJ at TB
10.*Ladd McConkey LAC vs. DEN
Note: McConkey missed Wednesday's practice with a biceps issue, but then returned to a full practice Thursday.
11.Drake London ATL at CAR
12.Zay Flowers BAL vs. DET
13.Davante Adams LA at PHI
14.*Brian Thomas JAC vs. HOU
Note: After the loss to the Bengals in which Thomas failed to come up with a catch on fourth down that could have sealed the win and generally didn't look aggressive going over the middle, coach Liam Coen said that Thomas is nursing a wrist injury. Thomas full practiced Wednesday, but then was limited on Thursday. ***Thomas was cleared from the injury list on Friday.***
15.Tyreek Hill MIA at BUF
16.*Tetairoa McMillan CAR vs. ATL
Note: McMillan really looks the part - he had six catches for 100 yards in the loss to the Cardinals.
17.Marvin Harrison ARZ at SF
18.A.J. Brown PHI vs. LAR
19.*Mike Evans TB vs. NYJ
Note: Evans has had plenty of volume (11 targets on Monday night), but hasn't gotten into the end zone and hasn't surpassed 60 yards in either game so far.
20.Tee Higgins CIN at MIN
21.DK Metcalf PIT at NE
22.*Keenan Allen LAC vs. DEN

26.Michael Pittman IND at TEN
27.Courtland Sutton DEN at LAC
28.DJ Moore CHI vs. DAL

31.Hollywood Brown KC at NYG
32.Jakobi Meyers LV at WAS
33.DeVonta Smith PHI vs. LAR
34.*Jaylen Waddle MIA at BUF

36.Jameson Williams DET at BAL
37.Jerry Jeudy CLE vs. GB
38.*Emeka Egbuka TB vs. NYJ
Note: Egbuka (hip/groin) sat out Wednesday and Thursday's practices - he was expected to mix in some work on Thursday, so this is concerning. ***Egbuka returned to a limited practice Friday and is listed as questionable. He's expected to play, but he could see a limited number of snaps.***

40.Keon Coleman BUF vs. MIA
41.Chris Olave NO at SEA

63.Olamide Zaccheaus CHI vs. DAL
64.Dyami Brown JAC vs. HOU

66.JuJu Smith-Schuster KC at NYG
67.Ray-Ray McCloud ATL at CAR
68.Joshua Palmer BUF vs. MIA

Note: Slayton (foot) has had two limited practices so far this week. ***Cleared from the injury list.***
71.Tre Tucker LV at WAS
72.*Dontayvion Wicks GB at CLE

74.Adonai Mitchell IND at TEN
75.Jalen Nailor MIN vs. CIN
76.Isaac TeSlaa DET at BAL

29.Zay Flowers BAL vs. DET
30.Davante Adams LA at PHI
31.*Brock Bowers LV at WAS
Note: Bowers (knee) was able to play through the Monday Night loss to the Chargers but did look like he was a step slower than usual. Bowers was limited at Wednesday's practice. ***Limited all week, but was cleared from the injury report on Friday.***
32.*Kenneth Walker SEA vs. NO
Note: ***Walker will likely see a higher percentage snap share with Zach Charbonnet (foot) listed as doubtful.***
33.*Rhamondre Stevenson NE vs. PIT
Note: Stevenson was the primary back against Miami and looked great in the process, with 11 carries for 54 yards and five catches for 88 yards.
34.Ashton Jeanty LV at WAS
35.*Brian Thomas JAC vs.
36.Tyreek Hill MIA at BUF
37.*Tetairoa McMillan CAR vs. ATL
Note: McMillan really looks the part - he had six catches for 100 yards in the loss to the Cardinals.
38.Breece Hall NYJ at TB
39.Jaylen Warren PIT at NE
40.Marvin Harrison ARZ at SF
41.A.J. Brown PHI vs. LAR
42.*Mike Evans TB vs. NYJ
Note: Evans has had plenty of volume (11 targets on Monday night), but hasn't gotten into the end zone and hasn't surpassed 60 yards in either game so far.
43.*D'Andre Swift CHI vs.
44.James Conner ARZ at SF
45.Tee Higgins CIN at MIN
46.*Emeka Egbuka TB vs.
47.Terry McLaurin WAS vs. LV
48.DK Metcalf PIT at NE

54.Michael Pittman IND at TEN
55.Sam LaPorta DET at BAL
56.Travis Kelce KC at NYG
57.*Omarion Hampton LAC vs. DEN
Note: I wouldn't be surprised if Hampton's role in the Chargers' late fumble leads to less work in the future, perhaps even him ceding goal line carries to Najee Harris.
58.Javonte Williams DAL at CHI
59.Courtland Sutton DEN at LAC
60.DJ Moore CHI vs. DAL
61.*Ricky Pearsall SF vs. ARI
Note: ***Pearsall should get more targets this week with Jauan Jennings unlikely to play, plus the Arizona secondary has a number of injuries.***

64.Jakobi Meyers LV at WAS
65.Deebo Samuel WAS vs. LV
66.DeVonta Smith PHI vs. LAR

68.Jameson Williams DET at BAL
69.Nick Chubb HOU at JAX
70.*Quinshon Judkins CLE vs.
71.*Cam Skattebo NYG vs. KC
Note: Skattebo took over the majority of snaps late in the loss to the Cowboys and might be the primary runner at the goal line.
72.*TreVeyon Henderson NE vs. PIT
Note: Henderson saw fewer touches than both Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson, in part due to his struggles in pass protection. He did have two good receptions on the day showing his talent.
73.*Jacory Croskey-Merritt WAS vs. LV
Note: Croskey-Merritt's role will increase with Austin Ekeler (Achilles) out, but I don't think he'll be very involved in passing downs.
74.Jerry Jeudy CLE vs. GB
75.Quentin Johnston LAC vs. DEN
76.Keon Coleman BUF vs. MIA
77.George Pickens DAL at CHI
78.Chris Olave NO at SEA

81.*Tyler Warren IND at TEN
Note: Warren (toe) sat out practice Wednesday but returned to a limited practice Thursday. ***Cleared from the injury list.***
82.*Tucker Kraft GB at CLE
Note: Kraft suffered a minor knee tweak in Thursday's practice, but he's expected to be ok for Sunday's game in Cleveland. ***Kraft was held out of drills on Friday and we had a flurry of somewhat conflicting episodes on his status. He's active, we'll see how much he plays.***
83.Tyler Allgeier ATL at CAR
84.Dylan Sampson CLE vs. GB
85.*Josh Downs IND at TEN
Note: Downs (ankle) sat out Wednesday's practice but fully practiced Thursday.

10.Will Reichard MIN vs. CIN
11.Brandon McManus GB at CLE
12.Evan McPherson CIN at MIN
13.*Wil Lutz DEN at LAC
Note: Lutz missed from 42 yards in the fourth quarter against the Colts, setting the table for them to take the lead later on a field goal of their own.
14.*Chase McLaughlin TB vs. NYJ
Note: McLaughlin missed another field goal attempt, this time from 38 yards.
15.Matt Prater BUF vs. MIA
16.Tyler Loop BAL vs. DET
17.Spencer Shrader IND at TEN
18.*Parker Romo ATL at CAR
Note: Nailed five field goals while replacing Younghoe Koo last week. It's hard to imagine the Falcons not turning back to Romo this week. ***The Falcons released Koo, making Romo the full-time kicker.***

21.Chad Ryland ARZ at SF
22.Cairo Santos CHI vs. DAL

32.*Andre Szmyt CLE vs. GB
Note: Szmyt (calf) was cleared from the injury list on Friday.***
33.*Younghoe Koo at
Note: ***Koo was released by the Falcons.***

Defenses

1.*Seattle Seahawks vs. NO
Note: Seattle's defense looks good, and now they draw a home game against the Steelers.
2.Green Bay Packers at CLE
3.Buffalo Bills vs. MIA
4.*Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. NYJ
Note: Might get to face Tyrod Taylor.
5.*Minnesota Vikings vs. CIN

6.San Francisco 49ers vs. ARI
7.Philadelphia Eagles vs. LAR
8.*Arizona Cardinals at SF
Note: The ending was whacky, but it sure was nice to start off with a defensive touchdown against Carolina.
9.Denver Broncos at LAC

Note: Unfortunately the Chargers lost Khalil Mack (elbow) early on, but they still impressed against the Raiders.
11.Houston Texans at JAX
