FanDuel Fantasy Football: Week 16 Value Plays

FanDuel Fantasy Football: Week 16 Value Plays

This article is part of our FanDuel Fantasy Football series.

Quarterback

Derek Carr, OAK vs. IND ($8,100): There are a ton of reasons to not like Carr this weekend. He dislocated a finger a couple of games ago, he has 17 fantasy points in his last two games combined and his receivers have suddenly had a lot of drops. That's not going to win any GPPs. However, let's look at the positive: he's back home where he's had success this season against teams that don't have superior defenses. The Colts' defense is far from elite, and they are playing their second straight game on the road. While he's the seventh highest-priced quarterback on the slate, the Colts are giving up the ninth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks. There should be a shootout, and being in a game with the highest over/under (53.5) as the favorite (-3.5), Carr makes a lot of sense.

Running Back

Rob Kelley, WAS at CHI ($5,800): Isn't it kind of odd given Kelley's production that it took him so many Matt Jones fumbles to see the field? This week the matchup looks very good, as Kelley and the 'Skins travel to Chicago to take on the Bears. Last week, the Bears gave up 162 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to Ty Montgomery, showing the damage Kelley may be in for this weekend. It's also reassuring that Kelley has been a bigger part of the passing game, catching six passes for 72 yards over his last two games. Look for Washington to lean heavily on Kelley again as the Bears have not been good against the run lately.

Mark Ingram, NO vs. TB ($6,300): New Orleans has one of the highest expected team totals this weekend and it should be Ingram leading the backfield for the Saints. He wasn't on the injury report leading up to last week's game, suggesting he's nearly 100 percent. After Tim Hightower vultured two touchdowns from him a week ago, resulting in an Ingram sideline tirade, it was speculated that he needs another touchdown to have an incentive kick in. If at least the part of him getting upset about getting pulled at the goal line is true, look for New Orleans to try and right any wrong. Provided he doesn't put the ball on the ground, he'll once again be the lead back and almost a lock for double-digit fantasy points.

Wide Receiver

Tyler Lockett, SEA vs. ARI ($4,700): This price seems way too low for a guy who has 22.5 and 22.3 fantasy points in two of his last three games. The Seahawks have made making Lockett a bigger part of the offense over the second half of the season, as evidenced by at least six targets in five of his last six games. The likely reason for his recent involvement is that he's probably much healthier than he was earlier this season. Patrick Peterson will likely shadow Doug Baldwin for the most part, and this is a defense that was just torched by Brandin Cooks.

Rishard Matthews, TEN at JAC ($5,700): Remember at the beginning of the season when Matthews was losing snaps and targets to Andre Johnson? That is no longer the case, as it seems he's the top receiving target (along with Delanie Walker) for the Titans. Matthews has developed a nice floor, scoring double-digit fantasy points in six of his last seven games (the one dud coming against Denver). The Titans' strong running game should set up play-action a few times during this game, opening up a big play down field for Matthews.

Tight End

Antonio Gates, SD at CLE ($5,400): Last week it was suggested to use Charles Clay, and once again we'll pick on the Browns. They continue to give up the most fantasy points to tight ends, as their secondary has difficulty matching up with their size. Gates, who is likely in his last season, is chasing the all-time tight end touchdown record held by Tony Gonzalez and needs two more to tie him. Rivers stated at the beginning of the season that would be one of the goals, so the ball may be forced Gates' way in the red zone.

Kicker

Roberto Aguayo, TB at NO ($4,500): This is expected to be one of the three highest-scoring games of the week, with 12 other games coming in with an over/under of 44. The weather won't be a concern and his team shouldn't have any trouble moving the ball on the Saints. Aguayo has also kicked better recently, scoring anywhere from eight to 14 fantasy points in five of his last six games.

Defense/Special Teams

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami ($4,600): This looks like a week to pay up for one of the top-5 defenses, though the Bills are a good contrarian play. They get to face backup quarterback Matt Moore and have the advantage of playing home in the cold. The defense also got back run-stopper Kyle Williams and the Dolphins won't have Mike Pouncey, a player they had the first time these two teams played.
