Rakuten Monkeys (16-8) at Fubon Guardians (12-13)

Thursday, May 27, 6:35 AM EDT

Projected Starters

RHP Weng Wei-Chun (3-1, 6.85 ERA) vs RHP Chiang Kuo-Hao (2-2, 5.92 ERA)

Game Preview

These two sides managed to avoid the rain to play just their second game in the last 10 days Wednesday, with the Guardians' Mike Loree throwing seven strong innings to lead his side to an upset victory. Thursday's game will be a battle between two young righties. The Monkeys' Weng Wei-Chun has made four starts and one relief appearance this season, struggling to a 6.85 ERA and a 1.73 WHIP. The 21-year-old's 6.14 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 70.1 innings last season aren't particularly inspiring, either. Opposing him for the Guardians will be 22-year-old Chiang Kuo-Hao. His 5.92 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in four starts this season are decent enough when considering how league-wide offense has exploded this season.

Monkeys' Last Lineup

Top Picks

Weng Wei-Chun, Monkeys: Weng has been slightly worse than his counterpart, Chiang Kuo-Hao, and he does cost 1.5 more credits. The "don't start a pitcher against the Monkeys" rule applies here, though, as the Monkeys still lead the league

Top Picks

Weng Wei-Chun, Monkeys: Weng has been slightly worse than his counterpart, Chiang Kuo-Hao, and he does cost 1.5 more credits. The "don't start a pitcher against the Monkeys" rule applies here, though, as the Monkeys still lead the league with 8.3 runs per game (compared to 6.1 runs per game for the Guardians) even after dropping three straight contests.

Lee Tsung-Hsien, Guardians: At just nine credits, Lee provides a cheap way to get a Guardian in your lineup while saving space for the Monkeys' elite bats. The shortstop has been on fire over his last six games, going 11-for-25 with 11 RBI over that stretch, earning him a move up to the second spot in the order.

Lin Li, Monkeys: Speaking of the Monkeys' elite bats, Lin is the best of the bunch and nearly always deserves captain consideration. He's hitting an incredible .398 on the season, scoring 28 times and driving in 27 runs in 23 games.

Lin Chih-Ping, Monkeys: Lin hadn't played much of a role over the last two seasons, and his numbers don't suggest that he deserved one. He's been one fire in 20 games this year, however, grabbing a hit in exactly half of his 56 at-bats, earning him a role as the Monkeys' number two hitter.
