The lone Power-5 conference match-up tonight is a battle of Big Ten opponents as Wisconsin travels to take on Rutgers. That will give us a chance to profile some teams that aren't normally in the spotlight ahead of DraftKings' $5 Five Star Recruit and a $2k top payout. FanDuel's featured contests will be back in action tomorrow.
Targets
Justin Turner, G, Bowling Green ($7,900 DK)
Turner may be the best offensive player in action tonight and comes in with only the seventh-highest salary. That's good value considering he's already posted four 40+ point fantasy games thus far. One of those games came earlier this season against Buffalo, in which Turner posted a season-high 33 points. He'll have a chance to duplicate that performance in a re-match against a Buffalo squad that ranks 13th in the country in tempo, so it's no surprise to see this game have the highest over/under on today's slate.
Kyle Lofton, G, St. Bonaventure ($6,800 DK)
Lofton provides excellent value at just a slightly above-average salary, as he's played 39+ minutes in half of the Bonnies games and rarely comes off the floor. Duquesne is a team that defends the perimeter well, and Lofton has done most of his scoring driving to the basket and getting to the line. In addition to being a consistent scorer, he leads the team in assists and averaged 17.5 points and seven assists in two games against Duquesne last season.
Nate Reuvers, F, Wisconsin ($4,500 DK)
Reuvers comes in at his lowest salary of the season as surprisingly only the sixth-most expensive Badgers player tonight. Although his playing time usually doesn't surpass 25 minutes, he's a focal point of the Badgers' offense when on the floor, accounting for over a quarter of the team's shots. Reuvers hasn't been as efficient this year as in the past, but he's still a capable post player that can also shoot the three. He has 30-point fantasy potential and should get enough volume to outperform his salary.
Fades
Orlando Robinson, F, Fresno St. ($9,500 DK)
There's no denying how good Robinson has been this season, as the big man is shooting over 50 percent from two and long-range this season and has posted a double-double in 6-of-8 games. However, Fresno St. has played a pretty soft schedule thus far and will get a tougher test against Nevada, a team with a pair of quality centers in Warren Washington and K.J. Hymes to defend him. At this salary, you'll need about a 40-point fantasy night and with him also likely to be highly owned in GPPs it's better to fade him.
Myles Johnson, F, Rutgers ($6,700 DK)
This is a tough spot to use Johnson, as Rutgers faces a Wisconsin team that we know likes to keep the pace slow and relies on their defense. He'll have to go up against Reuvers and Micah Potter, two good post defenders that have the size to match up against him. If you're going to play someone on Rutgers tonight, I'd prefer Montez Mathis ($5,200 DK) -- a lower salary option that can shoot the three.
James Reese, G/F, North Texas ($6,300 DK)
Reese has received plenty of playing time this season, but his two best games have been against Houston Baptist and Mississippi Valley St. who have a combined two wins. He hasn't recorded more than five rebounds or assists in a game thus far, so he's heavily reliant on an efficient shooting night to live up to his salary. With UTEP allowing most of their scoring inside-the-arc and Reese doing most of his scoring from three, he lacks enough upside to warrant putting in your lineup.
