Knicks Stay Alive With Pivotal Game 5 Win
The New York Knicks defeated the Miami Heat, 112-103, at Madison Square Garden in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Wednesday. The Heat lead the series 3-2.

The Knicks had their backs against the wall in this game, as they needed the victory to keep their season alive against a surprising Heat team. New York endured a rough start, and it looked as if its season would go down the drain, but the team recovered just in time to pull a comeback and win. The victory puts the series at 3-2, and while the Heat can close things out at home this weekend, the Knicks proved they won’t go down without a fight. It was a struggle early on, however, as the Heat raced to a 24-14 lead following the opening 12 minutes. The Knicks responded with a 36-23 score in the second quarter, but they only held a minimal three-point lead at halftime. The Knicks made it a double-digit game after keeping the foot on the gas in the third quarter, winning that period by a 34-27 score. Miami won the final quarter by a 29-28 score, but that was not enough to mount a comeback. Game 6 will be played Friday at Kaseya Center.

Jalen Brunson stepped up when the Knicks needed it the most and finished with 38 points while adding nine rebounds and seven assists. R.J. Barrett had 26 points and seven boards. Julius Randle posted 24 points, five rebounds and five assists. No other New York player scored in double digits in the game. Mitchell Robinson grabbed 11 rebounds and recorded two steals, but he only scored eight points. Quentin Grimes delivered eight points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Jimmy Butler scored 19 points while adding nine assists and seven boards for the Heat. Bam Adebayo delivered 18 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Max Strus posted 14 points and three rebounds. Duncan Robinson had 17 points and two steals off the bench. Cody Martin had 11 points and three assists.
