Monday doesn't feature a full schedule, but it's still a pretty meaty slate of games. There are 12 matchups, which means 24 teams are in action. You'll have plenty of choices, and here are some names I would recommend.
PITCHER
Joe Musgrove, PIT vs. KAN ($8,800): Musgrove has been solid in his first year starting for the Pirates. He's posted a 3.69 FIP and has struck out 7.90 batters per nine innings. The Royals have been one of the worst teams in baseball, making this a good bet for a win for the Pirates, and they also rank 28th in runs scored on the road.
GPP Fade: Kyle Hendricks, CHC at ARI ($8,500): Hendricks' numbers already look decidedly middling, with his 11-11 record and 3.71 ERA, and there are a couple things going against him. For starters, he has a 3.89 ERA on the road. Second, he has a 3.93 FIP. The Diamondbacks have a tough ballpark to pitch in, so even though their offense is middle of the pack, this could be a difficult outing for Hendricks.
Cheap GPP Consideration: Andrew Suarez, SF at SD ($7,000): Suarez has been uneven recently, but over his last six starts he has a 3.38 ERA thanks to three shutouts. He's been much better at home, which stands to reason when you call AT&T Park home in a division with ballparks like Arizona's and Colorado's, but San Diego has one of the few parks better for pitchers than San Francisco's. Also, the Padres have a league-worst .235 batting average as a team.
CATCHER/FIRST BASE
J.T. Realmuto, MIA vs. WAS ($3,100): Realmuto has been a rare bright spot for the Marlins, as he's slashed .282/.345/.500 with 21 homers in 117 games. That's helped him average a whopping 11.1 fantasy points per game, which puts him on par with the best first basemen. Erick Fedde has struggled in his limited MLB action, as he has a career FIP of 5.20.
SECOND BASE
Rougned Odor, TEX vs. TAM ($3,300): Thanks in part to injury, Odor isn't going to hit 30 homers for the third season in a row. However, he still has 18 homers to go with 11 stolen bases, and he's hit quite well at home (.880 OPS). Meanwhile, Tyler Glasnow has struggled mightily on the road, as he has a 6.53 ERA in away games.
THIRD BASE
Joey Wendle, TAM at TEX ($3,000): Wendle doesn't have a ton of power, as he's hit seven homers in 126 games, but he's a good hitter. The 28-year-old has a .292 batting average and .342 OBP, and he's hit better on the road than at home. Texas is a good environment for hitters, and the weather across the country has seen an upswing in temperature recently, which tends to help the ball carry. Rangers starter Adrian Sampson has barely pitched in the majors, but when he has he's posted a 8.02 FIP.
SHORTSTOP
Jorge Polanco, MIN at DET ($3,100): Thanks in part to a big game Sunday, Polanco has a slash line of .285/.335/.418. He missed a big chunk of the season due to a suspension, playing in only 64 games, but he's hitting now. Plus, most of his issues have been with lefties, which isn't a concern with the right-handed Jordan Zimmermann on the mound for the Tigers. Zimmermann also has a 4.70 FIP and has allowed 1.85 homers per nine innings.
OUTFIELD
Lorenzo Cain, MIL vs. CIN ($3,700): Cain has no trouble getting on base, as he has a .401 OBP. He's also stolen 28 bases, so he can do damage with his legs. It seems like the only damage Reds pitcher Anthony DeSclafani does is to his own team. Monday starter for Cincinnati has a 4.91 FIP and has given up 1.81 home runs per nine innings.
Adam Eaton, WAS at MIA ($3,600): Eaton's two issues have been staying healthy and hitting lefties. Well, at the moment the 29 year-old is healthy, and the Marlins are starting righty Trevor Richards. Against RHP, Eaton has a .821 OPS over the last three seasons. On the other hand, Richards has a 7.57 ERA over his last six starts.
Adam Jones, BAL vs. TOR ($3,100): Jones still has a little pop in his bat, as he hit his 15th homer of the season Sunday. He now has a .285 batting average to go with a .430 slugging percentage. Ryan Borucki has really struggled on the road, as he has a 5.82 ERA away from Toronto. He's also struggled recently, as he's posted a 6.82 ERA over his last seven starts.
