DraftKings MLB: Friday Picks

DraftKings MLB: Friday Picks

This article is part of our DraftKings MLB series.

It's the end of the season as we know it, or at least it almost is. The MLB regular season only has a few days left, and Friday is quite busy. Technically, there are 16 games, but that includes a doubleheader between the White Sox and Twins. Only the first game is being used for daily fantasy purposes, which starts at 2:10 PM ET…

PITCHER

Patrick Corbin, ARI at SD ($10,800): Corbin is on the pricier side, but he still feels like a great value. This is a pitcher with a 2.52 FIP despite pitching in Arizona's offensive-friendly ballpark. He has a 3.23 ERA overall, but on the road that ERA is 2.96. He's also struck out 11.14 batters per nine innings. Petco Park is as friendly to pitchers as a stadium gets, and the Padres also have a league-low .297 OBP.

GPP Fade: Kyle Hendricks, CHC vs. STL ($8,800): Two years ago, Hendricks surprised everybody by posting a 2.13 ERA, but, at his core, he's a pitcher with a 3.47 FIP in his career. This year, that FIP is up to 3.82. The Cardinals' offense took off after the All-Star break to make a run at the playoffs, as they rank third in runs scored in that time.

Cheap GPP Consideration: Wade LeBlanc, SEA vs. TEX ($7,400): LeBlanc has put together a nice stretch of games, as he has a 1.83 ERA over his last six starts. The Rangers' offense has been good overall, but that's because they reaped the benefits of their home park. On the road, they rank a mere 27th in runs scored.

CATCHER

Yan Gomes, CLE at KC ($3,800): Gomes is enjoying his best season in a few years, as he has a .264 batting average and 16 homers in 111 games. He's also been hitting quite well recently, as he's sporting a .975 OPS in his last 22 contests. Royals starter Ian Kennedy has a 4.62 FIP, which actually makes this his best season as a Royal.

FIRST BASE

C.J. Cron, TB vs. TOR ($4,400): Cron's move to Tampa went great for him, as he has a career-best .493 slugging percentage and 29 homers. He's also really walloped lefties, posting a .924 OPS against them. Toronto's Thomas Pannone is a lefty, and though he has a 3.58 ERA, his 5.35 FIP tells a different story.

SECOND BASE

Jed Lowrie, OAK at LAA ($4,200): Lowrie has 22 homers this season, his first time crossing the 20-homer threshold, and thanks to the potent A's lineup he's a part of he has 96 RBI as well. This despite the fact he has been kind of middling at home, as on the road he has a .896 OPS. Jamie Barria has also struggled at home, as he has a 4.60 ERA in his own ballpark.

THIRD BASE

Eugenio Suarez, CIN vs. PIT ($4,200): Suarez has struggled a bit recently, but on the season he's slashed .280/.366/.516 with 32 homers. That's how he's averaged 8.7 fantasy points per game. Perhaps a matchup with Nick Kingham is just what the doctor ordered. The Pirates starter has a 5.59 FIP and has allowed 2.12 homers per nine innings.

SHORTSTOP

Adalberto Mondesi, KC vs. CLE ($4,600): Mondesi doesn't walk much, but that's less important for fantasy purposes. He has a .284 batting average and has hit 13 homers while swiping 30 bags. Speaking of homers, the 23-year-old has seven dingers in the last 21 days. Though Mike Clevinger's 3.62 FIP isn't bad, a hot Mondesi is still worth a shot at this price.

OUTFIELD

A.J. Pollock, ARI at SD ($4,700): Pollock started the season hot, got hurt, struggled upon returning, and now he's getting warmed up again. Over his last 20 games he has a .877 OPS with five homers. Padres starter has a 4.69 FIP in his rookie season, so perhaps Pollock will keep things going.

Marcell Ozuna, STL at CHC ($4,400): Speaking of hot outfielders, since returning from injury Ozuna has slashed .300/.354/.567 with seven home runs. The 27-year-old has 23 homers overall, making this the fourth time in the last five seasons he's hit at least 23 home runs. As noted earlier, Kyle Hendricks has a 3.82 FIP this season.

Justin Upton, LAA vs. OAK ($4,300): Upton has hit 30 homers for the third season in a row, even though he's struggled against lefties and on the road. Fortunately for him, this game is at Anaheim's park, and Mike Fiers is a righty. Fiers may have a 2.90 ERA since being traded to Oakland, but that's with a 4.63 FIP. He's also allowed 1.81 homers per nine innings since joining the A's.
