Arena Football DFS: DraftKings Week 13 Plays

DraftKings' Arena Football League (AFL) contests are back for Week 13 with a three-game slate. RotoWire will be providing lineup suggestions for each of the 13 weeks of the AFL regular season, the two weeks of the playoffs and the ArenaBowl. 

DraftKings AFL lineups consist of one Captain spot, which sees the player's salary and fantasy points both multiply at a rate of 1.5x, and five Flex positions. The lack of positional specifications means that one could potentially compose a lineup consisting of players from just one position. However, for our purposes, we'll strive to highlight players from at least the top two fantasy-producing positions, quarterback and wide receiver. 

Note: Please keep in mind that these are merely recommendations on certain players and are not intended to constitute a lineup that fits under DraftKings' $50,000 salary cap. In fact, the cumulative salary of the players suggested weekly will often check in well over that figure.

Week 13 AFL Plays

Captain: Dan Raudabaugh, QB, PHI at ALB ($14,400):

The Soul has playoff seeding at stake in Week 13, and Raudabaugh finds himself in a matchup he's dominated on two occasions already this season. Those two factors give the veteran quarterback plenty of fantasy appeal and make him an excellent choice for the 1.5-point multiplier the Captain's spot offers. The Empire has surrendered a total of 13 touchdown passes to Raudabaugh over two prior meetings this season, and they've allowed the most passing yards per game (250.5) and 51 scores through the air overall. Raudabaugh has an impressive 22:4 TD:INT and is averaging 26.9 fantasy points across five road contests as well, and he's likely to play a full game given the postseason stakes.

Flex: Arvell Nelson, QB, WAS vs. CLB ($10,800):

Nelson is another signal-caller whose team has incentive in the regular-season finale. Washington can potentially slip from the third to the fourth seed with a loss and both Soul and Brigade victories, and they're playing in the first game of the week Saturday afternoon. Therefore, they need to win first and foremost, and the Destroyers will likely set up as very willing facilitators. Columbus was eliminated from postseason contention long ago, and they come in allowing the second-highest completion percentage (65.4) and highest average yards per attempt (8.0) while also snagging the fewest interceptions (six). He's averaged 38.0 fantasy points at home this season and has also scored 10 rushing touchdowns there. Meanwhile, Columbus has yielded 13 scores on the ground, tied for second most in the AFL. With his dual-threat ability and the Destroyers' probable lack of motivation, the only thing that might get in Nelson's way of maxing out his upside is that he may not have to play the full game.

Flex: Darius Prince, WR, PHL at ALB ($8,800):

Having talked up Raudabaugh's candidacy earlier, Prince makes for an excellent handcuff to the veteran signal-caller if you can afford him. The veteran wideout is coming off back-to-back 30-plus fantasy-point outings, with his most recent unfolding in Week 11 against the Blackjacks on the strength of a 8-124-2 line. Prince has already lit up the Empire for 18 catches and six touchdowns over two previous meetings, and Albany's considerable weaknesses against the pass were previously detailed in Raudabaugh's entry. Prince also offers virtually unmatched safety in terms of his week-to-week production -- he's logged at least seven receptions in seven of 11 games, and six in another.

Flex: Shane Boyd, QB, BAL at AC ($8,400):

Boyd and the Brigade have an outside shot of moving up to the No. 3 seed, although both the scenarios that could make that a possibility involve the unlikely proposition of the Valor losing to the Destroyers. Still, the veteran quarterback will likely see some decent playing time at minimum in an attempt to remain in sync with his pass catchers heading into the postseason. The Blackjacks have nothing to play for in this finale and have allowed six touchdowns passes to Boyd over two prior meetings. AC has been stout against the pass overall, but it's also yielded the highest completion percentage (66.5) and second-most completions (220) while tying with the Valor for second-fewest interceptions (eight). Boyd isn't overly expensive as far as a QB is concerned, and with limited candidates to choose from, he makes for a viable play.

Flex: Milton Williams, WR, BAL at AC ($6,800):

Williams' teammate Brandon Collins is reportedly nursing an unspecified injury this week, and with the Brigade's playoff seeding potentially cemented by the time they kick off Sunday afternoon, it's possible he's rested out of caution. That would enhance Williams' value even further at an appealing price point, especially considering he's working on a four-game touchdown streak and has scored in six of the last seven overall. He'll be motivated to keep that going in the finale, considering he needs just one scoring grab to equal his career high from 2018. Williams also generated an 8-68-1 line the last time he saw the Blackjacks in Week 6, leading to 20.8 fantasy points.

Flex: Josh Reese, WR, WAS vs. CLB ($6,200):

Reese offers you cost-effective exposure to the Valor passing attack in its highly favorable matchup against the Destroyers. The versatile veteran is coming off a season-high 30.3 fantasy points as well, which he accrued on the strength of a 5-103-2 line against the Brigade in Week 12. As mentioned earlier, the Valor have something to play for in Week 13 and have been vulnerable to the passing game all season. Reese posted a solid 4-76 line against them in their one prior meeting in Week 5, and he's also come on of late by scoring 16.6 to last week's 30.3 fantasy points in three of his past four contests. With some uncertainty surrounding the final week of the regular season, he shapes up as what should be a safe and possibly very rewarding play relative to price.
